The opportunity
The Service Delivery Center is made up of high-performing, U.S.-based professionals who work closely with EY engagement teams to deliver project-based work and managed services to government clients. The Service Delivery Center is a core component of the Government & Public Sector practice.
We currently have an opportunity for an AI Solution Development Staff professional to join our growing AI & Data practice. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of innovative AI-enabled solutions, including proofs of concept, prototypes, reusable accelerators, and applications.
Working as part of an experienced technical delivery team, you will develop assigned solution components, test and document your work, troubleshoot technical issues, and build your capabilities across modern application development, generative AI, data integration, and cloud technologies. You will collaborate with EY engagement teams, technical specialists, and other delivery professionals to translate defined requirements into working technology.
Your primary focus will be hands-on technical delivery and the production of high-quality, secure, and maintainable solutions.
Your key responsibilities
- Develop, test, document, and improve assigned components of AI-enabled applications, proofs of concept, prototypes, and reusable technical solutions
- Work from defined business, functional, and technical requirements to complete development tasks and produce testable outcomes
- Develop user-interface components using modern JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks
- Develop backend services, APIs, and application logic using Python and related technologies
- Integrate approved generative AI models and services into applications using APIs, cloud services, or open-source frameworks
- Contribute to retrieval-augmented generation solutions, enterprise-search capabilities, intelligent assistants, and AI-enabled workflow automations
- Develop connections among application components, AI services, databases, APIs, and enterprise data sources
- Assist with prompt development, model-output evaluation, retrieval testing, and refinement of AI-enabled user experiences
- Prepare, transform, validate, and integrate data used by AI-enabled applications
- Apply established development standards related to source control, testing, code review, documentation, security, deployment, and maintainability
- Write clear, testable, and maintainable code aligned with established solution designs and development patterns
- Create unit tests, perform functional testing, and document test results for assigned components
- Participate in code reviews and incorporate technical feedback from Senior and Manager professionals
- Troubleshoot application, model-integration, data, configuration, and deployment issues with guidance from more experienced team members
- Identify and communicate technical risks, dependencies, defects, questions, and blockers that may affect assigned work
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including configuration details, integration information, test evidence, deployment instructions, and user guidance
- Participate in internal, engagement-team, and client discussions to clarify requirements, review progress, and demonstrate completed work
- Collaborate with developers, data engineers, AI and machine learning specialists, designers, analysts, and other delivery professionals
- Learn and apply relevant practices related to responsible AI, privacy, security, accessibility, and human-centered application development
- Stay current on relevant developments in generative AI, application development, cloud services, data engineering, and software delivery
- Complete engagement-specific responsibilities in accordance with established scope, quality, schedule, security, and client requirements

To qualify for the role, you must have
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret trust clearance or higher
- Must have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of related professional experience
- Must be comfortable working in-person as needed
- Relevant experience developing software, data, AI, analytics, or automation solutions through professional work, internships, academic projects, or comparable technical experience
- Coding experience with Python and familiarity with a backend framework such as FastAPI, Flask, Django, or a similar technology
- Experience with or exposure to JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern front-end framework such as React, Next.js, Vue, Angular, Svelte, or a similar technology
- Familiarity with generative AI models, model APIs, large language model applications, or approved open-source AI frameworks
- Working knowledge of APIs, application services, system integrations, or connections to enterprise data sources
- Familiarity with cloud services or application deployment within Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or a comparable platform
- Working knowledge of SQL, databases, data ingestion, data transformation, and data-quality concepts
- Familiarity with software-development lifecycle practices, source control, testing, technical documentation, and deployment processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility and ability to work effectively with nationally distributed teams
- Ability to prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, follow up on open issues, and communicate risks or blockers
- Excellent English-language skills, both written and verbal
Consistent with EY’s collaborative working model, the role is expected to include 60% in-person engagement in support of effective teaming and delivery, subject to client and business requirements.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Experience developing a generative AI proof of concept, prototype, web application, academic project, or personal technical project
- Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases, enterprise search, or prompt-development techniques
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure AI services, Azure OpenAI Service, Amazon Bedrock, or comparable AI platforms
- Experience with modern application development using React, Next.js, FastAPI, or comparable frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud-native services, containers, CI/CD pipelines, application monitoring, or infrastructure automation
- Familiarity with open-source language models, model evaluation, agent-based applications, or AI-enabled workflow solutions
- Awareness of responsible AI, model evaluation, privacy, security, accessibility, and human-centered application-development practices
- Experience developing solutions for government clients or within environments that require formal security, documentation, and approval processes
- Relevant technical, cloud, AI, agile delivery, or software-development certifications

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $46,700 to $95,200. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $56,000 to $108,100. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
