Junior In-House Lawyer

In this role, you will support our EY member firms primarily in Latvia, and also in Lithuania and Estonia (EY Baltic). You will work under the guidance of the Baltic General Counsel (Baltic GC) and along our EY Baltic colleagues in Service Lines and business support functions.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Support Baltic GC in day to day work, with the focus on EY Latvia internal legal matters.
  • Assist in drafting internal regulations, policies, and procedures in alignment with the EY global policies and procedures and local legal requirements in order to ensure legal compliance with a focus on GDPR, AML, public procurement, and labour law.
  • Support in providing oral and written advice to the firms’ management and employees on matters relevant for the EY operations.
  • Assist in the drafting or review of the firms’ contracts with clients, vendors, employees and other third parties.
  • Participate in internal projects that require legal input under the supervision of a Baltic GC or senior professionals in EY Latvia.
  • Assist in monitoring developments of legislation and notifying Baltic GC about changes, and providing recommendations and clarifications under supervision.

Skills and attributes for success

  • A basic understanding of key national and EU laws and regulations that govern the business activities of EY.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with different management levels and external parties in a multinational environment.

 

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A university degree in law or to be a final year student.
  • Good level of spoken and written Latvian and English.
  • Basic IT literacy.

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Some experience in an in-house legal department of an international company or law firm would be beneficial.
  • Basic understanding of the laws and regulations of Estonia and/or Lithuania.

Salary: EUR 1600 - 2000 gross. (Specific salary will depend on candidate experience, skills and the range might vary)
