Our Infrastructure Advisory sub service line, within EY-Parthenon, is trusted by public sector ministries and agencies, as well as by private sector companies, for its expertise in infrastructure, including strategy and business case development, commercial and risk advisory, financing, transaction structuring, modelling and management of procurement processes. Our Infrastructure Advisory practice helps deliver some of Canada’s most complex and nation‑building infrastructure, advising across the full project lifecycle—from strategy, policy and business case development through transactions, delivery, asset management, renewal and disposal. We work at the forefront of transportation, energy, utilities, healthcare, environmental and social infrastructure, supporting transformative projects such as Alto (high‑speed rail), the East‑West Pipeline, the Northern Corridor Transmission Line expansion, and major hydroelectric developments including Muskrat Falls and Site C, alongside signature initiatives like the Champlain Bridge, Ontario Line and Blue Line subway expansions, Valley Line West LRT, major hospitals, highways, schools and municipal assets. Your key responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced candidate to join as a Vice President (Senior Manager) in the Infrastructure Advisory team in Montreal. This position will fill an integral role that involves working closely with other members of the rapidly growing national Infrastructure Advisory team to lead and deliver a variety of engagements related to the planning, development, delivery and operations of major infrastructure projects.
Areas of responsibility
- Project manage EY teams advising private and public sector clients on major infrastructure projects.
- Project manage complex assignments including a lead role in client relationship management.
- Provide direction and oversight on research information to be used in financial modeling, competitive analysis, industry analysis, negotiation support and various other applications.
- Provide direction and oversight on procurement activities (e.g. requests for proposals).
- Review and provide quality assurance on complex financial models within broadly defined guidelines.
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of quality documents for, and presentations to, clients and prospects.
- Manage and execute on multiple assignments with an exceptional standard of performance.
- Manage staff teams of 3-5 professionals and assume developmental responsibility for junior staff.
- Contribute to shaping EY's "go-to-market" client development strategy in Infrastructure Advisory.
- Collaborate with other team members in identifying and exploring potential new business opportunities; contribute to develop and maintain a healthy funnel of opportunities; contribute to expand and grow the practice through proactive introductions of the firm's capabilities to target clients and by expanding service to existing clients.
- Contribute to increase the practice's visibility in the marketplace by assuring its presence in key industry events, literature and discussions, in Quebec and across Canada.
- Contribute to attract, develop and motivate strong talent and engaging them towards attaining clearly defined objectives.
- Espouse and model the firm's professional values by promoting collaboration and innovation; fostering creativity; and engendering an ethical approach to conducting business.
To qualify for the role you should have
- 7 to 10+ years' experience in providing value added business advisory services for major infrastructure projects over their lifecycle (e.g. in relation to business cases, project financing and funding, procurement, economics, strategy, due diligence, contract management, asset management).
- 3+ years working in a leadership capacity within the infrastructure and project development space.
- This role involves interaction with clients operating nationally and globally. Bilingualism in both French and English is therefore a requirement of this role.
- Superior knowledge of financial modeling, including applying financial accounting principles and undertaking quantitative risk assessment with Monte Carlo simulations.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Understanding of key business drivers, business strategy and public policy.
- Strong project management skills and ability to organize work as the leader of multidisciplinary teams of professional advisors.
- Deep knowledge of the energy infrastructure market and demonstrated expertise in at least one additional infrastructure sector: healthcare, roads and bridges, public transit, ports, airports, water and wastewater, urban development, higher education.
- Strong business development skills, and ability to develop winning proposals to clients within limited timelines
- Demonstrate a hands-on, team oriented, collaborative, respectful, positive, flexible, leadership by example, "roll your sleeves up" style and a strong work ethic.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian debt financing and capital markets and/or of global infrastructure and project financing markets, with demonstrated experience in project finance and infrastructure transactions (e.g., financings, refinancings, financial close, due diligence, and negotiations). Working knowledge of the Canadian and International Finance and Accounting concepts and principles; CPA not required.
- Experience working on projects involving Indigenous communities, Indigenous equity participation, or Indigenous‑led infrastructure initiatives is considered a strong asset.
- Undergraduate degree necessary (business or engineering), Master's degree (e.g. MBA, MSc Economics or MSc Finance) or related designation (e.g. CFA/CBV) an asset.
- Self-motivated, proactive, entrepreneurial and with an ability to work independently and communicate directly with clients and prospects when necessary, while being collaborative enough to bring a strong contribution as a key member of the National team.
