The opportunity
As a Staff 2/3 Database Administrator, you will be responsible for incident response, request fulfilment, and basic troubleshooting for databases hosted on AWS RDS (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL) and Aurora DB. Your role involves executing runbooks and SOPs, performing routine health checks, and escalating complex database issues to L3 teams while ensuring minimal downtime
Your key responsibilities
- Execute standard runbooks and SOPs for routine database maintenance request fulfilment and incident handling.
- Perform basic database health checks (availability, performance, and space utilization).
- Support backup and restore validation tasks for databases
- Assist in user access management, role assignments, and credential resets.
- Log and track incidents, requests, and escalations using ITSM tool.
- Participate in shift handover meetings, ensuring a seamless transition of pending issues.
- Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions to enhance the knowledge base
Skills and attributes for success
- Basic understanding of relational databases like PostgreSQL, Oracle, MSSQL etc.
- Familiarity with DB backup & restore processes.
- Experience working with ITSM tools.
- Ability to follow structured SOPs and document troubleshooting steps.
- Flexible and proactive/self-motivated working style with strong personal ownership of problem resolution.
- Strong analytical skills and enjoys solving complex technical problems
- A strong desire to learn and grow within a structured team environment.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- 1-3 years of experience in database administration or IT support.
- Basic hands-on experience with database operations and troubleshooting.
- Incident Management: Any (with preference for ServiceNow tool).
- Willingness to work in a 24x7 rotational shift-based support environment.

- Database: Any one (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
- ITSM tool: Any (with preference for ServiceNow tool).
Good to have
- DB: Handon experience in multiple DB’s (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle etc.)
- Certification: Any relevant DBA certification
- High Availability & Replication: Always On, Failover Clustering
- Backup & Restore: AWS Backup, native DB utilities
- Monitoring Tools: AWS CloudWatch
- Security & Compliance: Encryption best practices, audit logging, IAM policies
- Enthusiastic learners with a passion for cloud database technologies and practices.
