The opportunity
As a Python Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for executing and maintaining automation scripts, ensuring the efficiency of operational workflows. Your focus will be on Python-based automation, log analysis, and workflow optimization using various tools. You will also handle incident support, request fulfillment, and troubleshooting while escalating unresolved issues to the appropriate teams.
Your key responsibilities
- Automate operational tasks using Python and Bash, following predefined runbooks and SOPs.
- Support incident response and request fulfilment by analysing logs and executing automation scripts.
- Maintain and enhance automation workflows for log processing, alerting, and event correlation
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and cloud automation issues, ensuring proper execution of automation playbooks/scripts
- Reassign unresolved tickets to the appropriate product team while maintaining proper documentation.
- Conduct scheduled automation health checks, ensuring seamless execution of automated processes.
- Participate in shift handovers and weekly meetings with the client to provide updates on automation improvements.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to the continuous improvement of automation solutions in collaboration with product team
Skills and attributes for success
- Strong Python scripting skills for automation and troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of Terraform Enterprise and Ansible Automation Platform for infrastructure and configuration automation.
- Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM processes and experience working with ITSM tools for ticket resolution and request fulfilment.
- Ability to follow structured SOPs and execute predefined runbooks efficiently.
- Effective problem-solving skills with a keen ability to diagnose issues and escalate when needed.
- Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing abilities for maintaining runbooks and automation guides.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- 1-3 years of experience in Python automation and operational support.
- Exposure to log monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, OpenTelemetry, and Cribl.
- Basic experience in infrastructure automation with Terraform Enterprise and Ansible.
- Knowledge of incident response and escalation procedures in a 24x7 support environment.
- Willingness to work in a rotational shift model to provide round-the-clock support.
- A strong desire to learn and grow within a structured team environment.

Technologies and Tools
Must haves
- Automation & Scripting: Experience in Python and exposure to Bash scripting
- ITSM tool: Any (with preference for ServiceNow tool).
- Log Processing & Monitoring: Experience in any one of the tools- Cribl, OpenTelemetry (OTEL), Splunk
- Infrastructure Automation: Experience in Ansible & Terraform
Good to have
- Certification: AWS and Python or similar certification
- Workload Automation: Autosys
- Cloud Security & IAM: AWS IAM policies, KMS
- Networking & Cloud Fundamentals: Basic knowledge of AWS networking, VPC configurations
