Your key responsibilities

Technical Excellence


1. Should posses the ability to analyze complex situations, think critically and creatively to 
develop strategic solutions. 
2. Proficiency in strategic planning and the ability to analyze trade flows and customs duty 
spend to identify savings opportunities. 
3. Experience in leading and coordinating teams both internally and with external partners to 
drive projects to successful conclusions. 
4. Specifically, experience with India trade compliance and managing Customs, import & export 
programs is preferred. 
5. A thorough understanding of all applicable customs regulations, trade laws, and international 
trade agreements. 
6. Should have skills in classifying goods, determining appropriate tariff codes, customs duties, 
and taxes for imported and exported goods. 
7. Deep knowledge of how to avail export benefits from statutory bodies against exports, such 
as Duty Drawback, RODTEP, Advance Authorization, EPCG Authorization, EOU, SEZ, etc. 
8. Managing and overseeing the application and issuance of various authorizations issued by 
the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in India. 
9. Should have the ability to drive a robust trade compliance program through formalized 
standards, SOPs, and metrics. 
10. Assisting in reviewing processes and supporting compliance enhancement and 
implementation programs. 
11. Driving a culture of continuous improvement and being responsible for monitoring and 
reviewing processes to generate ideas and improvements. 
12. Maintaining current knowledge of global trade regulations and monitoring changes to trade 
policies and customs regulations. 
13. Proactively identifying gaps and drafting action plans to mitigate risks and ensure timely 
completion of projects. 
14. Supporting and assisting with the implementation of trade automation solutions, such as EY 
Global Trade Automation Solution. 
15. Conducting periodic internal compliance assessments to ensure adherence to policies and 
procedures. 
16. Conducting training on Customs & Trade Compliance laws and regulations for internal 
stakeholders. 


Skills and attributes

To qualify for the role you must have
Qualification

A graduate or post-graduate degree from a reputable institution in International 
Business, Supply Chain, or a related field. 
• At least 2-5 years of experience in Customs, Trade Compliance, and Documentation. 
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in HS classification, customs valuation, and 
determining the country of origin. 
• A solid understanding of import/export customs regulations, Free Trade Agreements, 
Rules of Origin, and international regulations related to import duties and taxes. 

Experience

Experience in creating SOPs, reports, and presentations, with the ability to explain trade 
compliance to various audiences. 
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. 
• The ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively. 
• Capability to work independently on customs and trade compliance, as well as 
collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. 
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience with SAP is an advantage.
