The opportunity

 

Working in a team environment, the Manager-SAMS (IBM ILMT) is responsible for managing customer’s licenses. The Manager will assist customers in understanding and controlling their software licensing entitlement, avoiding legal pitfalls related to licensing by leveraging industry best practices while expanding host company licensing opportunities and building more-profitable, long-term relationships with our customers.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in software asset management, license compliance, or vendor management, with a focus on IBM software licensing.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of IBM software entitlements (Passport Advantage) to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Validate license entitlements against contractual agreements, purchase records, and deployment data.
  • In-depth knowledge of IBM software products, licensing models, and contractual agreements.
  • Proficiency in software asset management tools and systems e.g., IBM License Metric Tool (implementation & operational), FlexNet Manager, ServiceNow SAM, IBM License Service).
  • Experience in project management, process improvement, or IT governance is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Applying and advising on complex IBM software licensing topics.
  • Producing user and server based ELPs for IBM software.
  • Understanding IBM licensing concepts and product use rights.
  • Navigating IBM software billing, tracking, and measurement systems.
  • Providing Cost Analysis based on the deployments identified.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients.
  • Knowledge of IBM licensing concepts of Full-capacity vs Sub-capacity.

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

  • 8+ years professional experience in licensing industry with successful ITAM/SAM Management/ software licensing experience across publishers is a must.
  • Familiarity of different publisher licensing models.
  • Understanding of licensing scenarios, benefits, optimization opportunities, conceptual knowledge on use rights of BYOL concept.
  • SAM Accreditation (good to have).
  • Advanced Excel and data analytics skills.
  • Previous exposure to asset management software; preferably with specific experience in ServiceNow and SAM.

To qualify for the role, you must have

 

  • IBM Product Knowledge
  • Different IBM Licensing Models knowledge (such as perpetual licenses, subscription-based licensing, and cloud-based licensing (e.g., IBM Cloud Paks)
  • Experience with manual IBM ELP creation.
  • Legal and Compliance Understanding
  • Contracts and Entitlements Understanding
  • Strong analytical Skills
  • Software Reconciliation
  • Experience with different IBM licensing metrics (e.g., Resource Value Unit, Managed Virtual Server, Floating User, Concurrent User etc.,)
