Job Title: Senior Manager – Data Mesh & Data Products
Position Summary
EY Global Delivery Services (GDS) is seeking a Senior Manager to lead enterprise-scale adoption of Data Mesh and governed Data Products for complex, regulated clients. This role sits at the intersection of data strategy, product management, governance, and platform enablement, and is responsible for translating business priorities into scalable, consumable, and trustworthy data products.
The Senior Manager will shape operating models, lead multi-workstream deliveries, coach domain teams, and partner closely with client leadership, architecture, governance, and engineering stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Data Mesh & Data Product Leadership
- Lead the design and implementation of Data Mesh operating models, including domain ownership, product thinking, and federated governance.
- Define data product standards covering purpose, APIs, SLAs, quality, metadata, lineage, security, and certification.
- Guide organizations in shifting from project-centric data delivery to product-centric data ownership.
Data Product Strategy & Delivery
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of data products: discovery, design, build, certification, launch, and adoption.
- Partner with business and analytics teams to define clear, use-case-driven data products aligned to business outcomes.
- Ensure data products are AI- and analytics-ready, with embedded governance and quality.
Governance, Trust & Risk Alignment
- Embed policy-driven governance (privacy, security, quality, ethics, regulatory controls) directly into data products.
- Collaborate with data governance, privacy, risk, and compliance teams to operationalize trust by design.
- Drive pragmatic adoption of metadata, lineage, and certification frameworks using industry tools.
Platform & Architecture Enablement
- Work with data architecture and engineering teams to align data mesh principles with cloud platforms and tooling.
- Influence platform capabilities to support self-serve data infrastructure and standardized product deployment patterns.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a senior client advisor for data modernization, AI readiness, and data product transformation programs.
- Lead workshops with domain leaders, CDO offices, architects, and engineering teams.
- Present to executive stakeholders with clarity, credibility, and strong business framing.
Practice & People Leadership
- Lead and mentor high-performing teams across onshore and offshore delivery.
- Contribute to EY thought leadership, accelerators, reference architectures, and delivery templates.
- Support business development through solutioning, proposals, and client pursuits.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience
- 12–16+ years of experience in data strategy, data platforms, or data governance, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Hands-on experience delivering Data Mesh, data products, or domain-oriented data platforms at scale.
- Experience working with regulated industries such as financial services, wealth management, insurance, or healthcare.
Core Competencies
- Strong understanding of data product management and product lifecycle ownership.
- Deep knowledge of data governance, metadata management, data quality frameworks, and lineage.
- Experience aligning data platforms with AI and advanced analytics consumption.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-relevant narratives.
Tools & Technology
- Cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, or Synapse.
- Data governance and metadata tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, BigID, or equivalents.
- API-based data access and modern analytics enablement architectures.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Relevant certifications in cloud, data architecture, product management, privacy, or governance are a plus.
What Success Looks Like
- Clients adopt data mesh as an operating model, not just a concept.
- Data products are actively consumed, governed, and trusted across domains.
- Governance enables speed and safety rather than slowing delivery.
- EY GDS is recognized as a credible partner for enterprise data product transformation.
