Solution Architect – GMA - global medical affairs - GPS - global patient safety

Role Summary

The Solution Architect – GMA & GPS will drive the design, architecture, and delivery of technology, data, and AI solutions enabling Global Medical Affairs and Global Patient Safety functions. The role requires strong experience with Medical Affairs business processes, medical information, scientific exchange, content management, field medical CRM, safety operations, and cross-functional data ecosystems. The architect will partner with business leaders, IT, vendors, and enterprise architecture teams to define scalable solutions that support evidence generation, compliant engagement, insights workflows, and patient safety excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture, solution design, and technical strategy for GMA and GPS digital, data, and AI initiatives.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs, Medical Information, Field Medical, HEOR, Safety, Compliance, and Scientific Communications teams to translate business needs into actionable designs.
  • Evaluate and recommend best-fit platforms across CRM (Salesforce/Veeva), Medical Information systems, Safety platforms, analytics, AI/ML, and content management.
  • Architect end-to-end solutions for:
    • Field Medical CRM and digital engagement
    • Medical Information portals and fulfillment workflows
    • Scientific communications and content management
    • Grants/ISS management, events, and omnichannel enablement
    • KOL insights, integrated medical insights dashboards
    • Global patient safety data integrations and reporting
  • Lead vendor assessments, architectural reviews, infosec assessments, SDLC design governance, and development gates.
  • Define integration strategies with core systems such as Veeva Vault, PromoMats, CRM, MDM, Data Lake/Warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, AWS), Safety databases, and clinical systems.
  • Drive AI/GenAI solution architecture across Medical Affairs use cases (e.g., SLR automation, intelligent search, MLR content review, automated responses, redaction, translation).
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, privacy, medical governance, and safety standards.
  • Guide cross-functional delivery teams and maintain product/solution roadmaps.

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10–15+ years in biopharma, with strong experience in Medical Affairs and/or Patient Safety technology.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing solutions for:
    • Field Medical CRM (Salesforce/Veeva)
    • Scientific communications, medical information, content workflows
    • KOL insights, analytics dashboards, MI case management
    • Safety integrations and compliant data flows
  • Strong expertise in cloud platforms and data ecosystems (AWS, Snowflake, Informatica, Power BI/Tableau).

  • Experience designing AI, automation, and GenAI use cases for Medical Affairs.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional discussions with business leads, IT quality, vendors, and enterprise architects.
  • Strong understanding of GMA operations: Scientific Exchange, Medical Information, HEOR, Events, KOL engagement, MLR, compliance.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, stakeholder engagement, and vendor-management capabilities.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Certification in Salesforce, Veeva, or cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect).

  • Experience with AI governance, data governance, MDM, and medical content standards.
  • Familiarity with global regulatory and compliance requirements for Medical Affairs and Safety.
