The opportunity
The Production Artist teams with designers/art directors in the creation and graphic production of various types of deliverables for digital and print. Responsible for translating design concepts and specifications to create effective layouts while integrating text and graphics with appropriate use of color and image selection supporting the design theme. Create and edit complex templates and graphics and format documents with speed and accuracy. Prepare/finalize files for printing or digital viewing. Applies advanced knowledge of Adobe graphic applications and Microsoft Office with solid understand of the brand. Effectively prioritizes/balances multiple projects and may lead teams to collaborate to meet deadlines
Your key responsibilities
- Translates design concepts to create effective layouts with strong typography and image selection (supporting design theme/message) and appropriate use of color while maintaining brand integrity by interpreting and applying brand guidelines
- Photo/image manipulation and transformation using advanced skills in Adobe Photoshop
- Expertise in integrating graphics and text, proper set-up and use of master pages and style sheets, standard electronic file management/archiving and troubleshooting
- Apply advanced knowledge of layout, type, color, tracking, kerning and leading
- Solid knowledge of firm brand/strategy to create branded templates
- May shoot professional headshots using a DSLR camera in local/regional offices
- Demonstrate effective project management, including preparing estimates/timelines/budget, on-time deliverables and resource allocation
- Prepare files for print/electronic delivery including pulling out bleed, resizing and cropping as needed; effectively handle vendor requests
- Contribute technical skills and act as a peer advisor, coach or trainer on software and processes, and share knowledge
- Accurately assesses project requirements, manages risk, makes decisions/adds consultative value
- Breaks problems into manageable parts, applies problem-solving techniques and identifies additional resource needs
- Demonstrates flexibility to work with multiple projects/internal clients simultaneously
- Works independently and lead project teams
- Performance and product are reviewed periodically for quality and customer experience
- Must be able to work overtime as requested, often on a last-minute basis, and alter hours as needed to meet deadlines
- Flexible to work in-person joining internal client strategy sessions as needed. This may require travel to offsite locations
- Must adhere to busy season staffing requirements/scheduling
Skills and attributes for success
- Advanced skills with industry-standard software (Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, InCopy, Lightroom). Proficient in various software applications: 3D issue, Perfect Resize, Visio, SharePoint.
- Expert in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint including interactivity and animation; proficient in Excel
- Proficient in translating design concepts and graphics specifications
- Skilled at layout development, typography selection, use of color, file manipulation, retouching photos, and image search and selection
- Able to create/edit template-based digital content with proficiency in creating HTML email deliverables
- Solid understanding of creating e-newsletters for a large audience with a variety of email providers/software
- Excellent customer service, project management, communication, interpersonal/teaming and collaboration skills in a virtual environment
- Demonstrates speed with exceptional attention to detail and quality
What we look for
- Associates degree, technical certificate or equivalent work experience required
- Certification in Adobe Creative Cloud or Microsoft Office applications is a plus
- Approximately 5-6 years of related experience in graphics/design industry
