The opportunity
As part of our Caribbean Talent Hub (CTH) team, you'll contribute to the business enablement functions that help EY teams deliver exceptional client service, drive growth, and operate effectively. We are seeking an Accounting Assistant for our Trinidad office who will support the team in maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, and assisting with reporting and month-end activities. The role requires a working knowledge of accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively to support the firm’s financial operations.
Your key responsibilities
- Process and record accounting transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation for review.
- Assist with the reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assist with the preparation of reports for technology costs and accrual journals.
- Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation schedules.
- Assist with the preparation of VAT returns and supporting schedules.
- Support the reconciliation of intercompany accounts and follow up on outstanding reconciling items.
- Prepare balance sheet schedules and account reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of foreign exchange (FX) revaluation reports.
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for budgeting and forecasting exercises.
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding items.
- Assist with the preparation of cash flow reports and supporting analysis.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and documentation.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests by providing supporting information.
- Assist with special projects as required and perform other ad hoc duties that may arise.
Skills and attributes for success
- Currently pursuing or interested in pursuing a professional accounting qualification (ACCA Level 2 or equivalent)
- Approximately 1–2 years’ experience in an accounting, finance, or business environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines effectively.
