The opportunity

We currently have an excellent career opportunity in our Trinidad office for the position Accounting Assistant. The selected candidate must have a broad knowledge of accounting and finance concepts and utilize independent judgment to complete assignments and resolve issues.

Your key responsibilities

• Daily preparation of deposit to bank and submission of ‘Cash Receipts Form' for Accounts Receivable processing by our Global India team. 
• Manage online banking for incoming receipts to ensure timely processing
• Prepare and submit weekly bank reports
• Management of credit cards in accordance with EY policy
• Credit card statements are distributed timely to card holders
• Credit cards expense reports are received and audited timely in accordance with EY policy
• Credit card expense reports are processed in the general ledger timely
• Manage Travel Advance process to ensure compliance with company’s policy
• Travel Expense reports are received and audited timely
• Credit card expense reports are audited/processed and distributed timely
• Preparation and review of journal entries
• Submit information to our Global team for bank reconciliations
• Manage activities related to bank reconciliations
• Analyze and review of Bank Reconciliations from the Global team and submit to Accountant for Approval
• Back up/Vacation relief for Trinidad Accounts Payable
• Processing payments in accordance with the company policy
• Ensure invoices are approved and processed in accordance with the company policy
• Generate reports related to Accounts Payables
• Assist in the preparation of Quarterly/Monthly Reports
• Preparation of Balance Sheet schedules monthly
• Preparation of the FX Revaluation reports monthly
• Preparation of cash flow statements
• Assist with the accurate and timely close of accounting cycle
• Assist with special projects as required and any other ad hoc duties that may arise
• Ensure compliance of monthly, quarterly and annual submission deadlines for statutory and other legal requirements are met

• Ability to understand the expectations of customers and deliver service that meets or exceeds customers' needs within policy guidelines
• The ability to identify and resolve issues that impact the delivery of quality service
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A positive, "can-do" attitude and approach to responsibilities; the ability to assist and support leadership in addressing new challenges and changes
• Strong teamwork, collaboration, and support skills across different organizational teams

What we look for

• Currently pursuing a professional accounting qualification i.e. ACCA, CA, CIMA, CPA
• Approximately 2-5 years’ experience in a professional environment in a finance/ business capacity
