At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.
We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go. Join EY and help to build a better working world.
Our goal is to give clients a unique business perspective on how SAP technology can enhance their operations. By leveraging EY's experience across SAP, supply chain, finance, data and analytics, customer solutions, technology and architecture, and human capital, we help clients improve performance and increase productivity.
The opportunity
Our SAP Procurement practice helps organizations modernize and optimize their Procure-to-Pay operations through SAP S/4HANA. We work with clients to strengthen invoice processing, improve integration between procurement and Accounts Payable, increase automation, resolve exceptions efficiently, and enhance financial controls.
As an SAP Invoice Management & AP Integration Senior Consultant, you will support the design, configuration, testing, and delivery of invoice management solutions. You will work with procurement, Accounts Payable, finance, and technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable SAP processes that support accurate and timely invoice receipt, matching, exception handling, and posting.
Your key responsibilities
In this role, you will spend your time engaging with clients and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery. You will face challenges that require analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, providing you with opportunities to learn and grow in a dynamic environment. This position may require regular travel to meet with clients, allowing you to build relationships and understand their needs better. As a key member of our team, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting SAP invoice management and Accounts Payable integration workstreams within SAP S/4HANA implementation and transformation engagements.
- Gathering and analyzing business requirements for invoice receipt, validation, matching, approval, exception handling, and posting processes.
- Designing and configuring invoice verification processes, including two-way and three-way matching and dependencies among purchase orders, goods receipts, service entry sheets, and invoices.
- Defining and implementing invoice exception workflows, tolerances, approval requirements, blocked invoice resolution, and escalation procedures.
- Coordinating invoice-related requirements and integration points across Procurement, Accounts Payable, Finance, Materials Management, and related teams.
- Supporting functional design, configuration, testing, data validation, defect resolution, cutover, training, and post-go-live stabilization activities.
- Developing functional specifications, process flows, test scripts, training materials, and other project deliverables.
- Advising clients on SAP standard capabilities and leading practices while balancing business requirements, controls, and scalable solution design.
Skills and attributes for success
Success in this role requires a strong understanding of invoice management and Procure-to-Pay processes, hands-on SAP functional experience, and the ability to collaborate across procurement and finance teams. Key skills include:
- Strong understanding of end-to-end Procure-to-Pay processes, with emphasis on invoice management and Accounts Payable integration.
- Experience designing SAP-enabled invoice processing solutions that align business requirements with standard SAP functionality.
- Knowledge of invoice receipt channels, invoice verification, matching logic, tolerances, blocked invoices, exception resolution, approvals, and financial posting.
- Understanding of purchase order, goods receipt, service entry sheet, vendor master, tax, payment, and general ledger dependencies.
- Ability to facilitate requirements-gathering sessions, process design workshops, fit-gap assessments, and solution validation activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate process and system issues across procurement and finance.
- Ability to manage assigned deliverables, risks, issues, stakeholder expectations, and timelines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with business and technical audiences.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- A bachelor's degree and at least 2-4 years of SAP Procurement, Accounts Payable, Finance, or consulting experience.
- Experience supporting at least one full lifecycle SAP implementation, preferably an SAP S/4HANA transformation.
- Hands-on experience with SAP invoice management, Logistics Invoice Verification, Accounts Payable integration, or a closely related Procure-to-Pay capability.
- Experience with purchase-order-based and non-purchase-order invoice processes, invoice matching, tolerances, blocked invoices, workflow, and exception handling.
- Knowledge of integration points among SAP Materials Management, Accounts Payable, Finance, and related SAP modules.
- Experience creating functional specifications, process documentation, test scripts, training materials, and other implementation deliverables.
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service, and technical writing skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel to meet client needs; travel is estimated at 40-60%.
Ideally, you'll also have
- Previous consulting experience within a professional services environment.
- Experience with OpenText Vendor Invoice Management (VIM) for SAP, including invoice capture, workflow configuration, exception handling, approval processes, and integration with SAP Accounts Payable and Procure-to-Pay processes.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA Sourcing and Procurement, SAP Fiori applications, invoice workflow, or invoice automation solutions.
- SAP S/4HANA Sourcing and Procurement certification or another relevant SAP certification.
