EY’s Strategy and Transactions (SaT) division offers corporate, government and private equity clients’ professional transaction advice and services, from the strategic analysis phase of the transaction lifecycle, through to deal execution, and transaction integration. The opportunity

 

We are looking for a Senior Consultant or a Manager for the Valuation Modelling and Economics (Plant & Equipment Valuation) team based in our Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane offices. In this role you will focus on our plant and equipment valuation services, working in our team to carry out asset valuations for a blue-chip portfolio of clients. As a plant and equipment valuation professional, you'll help global organisations make strategic decisions by providing responsive, objective advice in a range of situations, often around live transactions.

 

This role includes regular interstate travel.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

  • Work within a small team providing and undertaking valuations of plant and equipment for a range of purposes including financial reporting, tax, M&A, impairment testing and insurance valuations.

  • Develop valuation models for plant and equipment and calculating values based on secondary market research, asset condition, replacement costs, useful life analysis and other financial information.

  • Perform a mixture of physical site inspections, desktop modelling, market analysis and research of the plant and equipment

  • Manage and analysis multiple valuation engagements at any given time

  • Responsible for client delivery of engagements including writing and preparing valuation reports and workbooks, liaising with our clients and providing insights into our analysis.

  • Actively assist the team in new pursuits and proposals

  • Ownership of the delivery of an engagement within the team and across multi-disciplined teams.

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

  • 3-5 years of experience in valuation (equipment, property or business), engineering, asset management or commercial financial advisory role

  • Previous plant and equipment valuation experience essential.

  • Experience in Microsoft Excel-based financial analysis

  • Proficient in working with other Microsoft Office tools (Power Point, Word etc.). Experience working with PowerBI or other data analytics packages would also be viewed favourably

  • Good interpersonal and client relationship skills

  • High personal drive and motivation to succeed in a growing team with lots of opportunities

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification is ideal but not essential. Relevant qualifications include Engineering, Property and Construction, Commerce or Finance.

  • Existing accreditation with the Australian Property Institute (API) as a Certified Practicing Valuer (Plant and machinery) CPV (P&M) or equivalent ASA or RICS accreditation will be highly regarded but not essential

  • Strong commercial acumen with excellent interpersonal and client management skills

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a commercial mindset

  • Excellent analytical, communication and teamwork skills
