Our Financial Services (“FS”) Valuations Modelling and Economics (“VME”) business, part of EY’s Strategy and Transactions (“SaT”) service line, works with financial services clients across banking and capital markets, insurance, and the wealth and asset management sectors.

 

EY Oceania’s  VME team has grown significantly in recent years. To support our ambitious plans, we are now looking to strengthen our VME practice at the Senior Consultant level in Perth.

Working in Valuations Modelling and Economics, you will get the opportunity to work with major corporate and private equity clients, investment banks, funds and government departments providing them with valuation support and advice on a wide variety of transaction and advisory assignments.

Your key responsibilities

As part of this market leading team, your role will be primarily focused on valuation work. You will become a member of multiple client engagement teams and have the opportunity to get involved in the full range of valuation work including valuations for management planning; mergers & acquisitions; tax; financial reporting; independent expert work and shareholder disputes.
 

  • Work within small project teams to undertake valuations of businesses, intangible assets and illiquid assets such as private debt securities, incentive shares and hybrid security instruments.

  • Analyse financial and other information in relation to our clients

  • Liaise with our clients to understand the key drivers underpinning their business performance and their impact on the financial forecasts

  • Take ownership for delivery of projects within each team. You will assist the partners and managers in analysing the financial performance and drafting valuation reports

  • Think critically, identify issues and propose strategies related to the advice being provided

  • Maintain positive, productive, and professional relationships with client personnel and colleagues

  • Mentor and train junior staff through effectively delegating tasks and providing guidance

 

As part of the role, you will also be involved in business modelling and transaction analytics projects to support our clients and broader Strategy and Transaction team in their complex decisions.

 

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Interest and aptitude in advising market leading financial services clients in Banking and Capital Market, Wealth and Asset Management and Insurance

  • Progress towards/completion of CA and/or CFA qualifications is highly desirable

  • The role requires a candidate to possess 2 to 4 years of work experience

  • A degree in finance, economics, accounting or business, with demonstrated aptitude in quantitative and qualitative analysis is required

  • It would be advantageous to have some direct experience utilising various valuation techniques and methodologies (market comparables, discounted cash flow, etc) and for different purposes (e.g. acquisition accounting / PPA, tax compliance) within a business valuation firm or practice or in venture capital, investment banking, commercial banking, financial research, national valuation firm or experience in a corporate finance role for an organization, preferably for M&A activities. However, we are open to candidates with alternative commercial experience

  • Excellent analytical, communication, organisational, interpersonal, and teaming skills
