The opportunity

As our Full Stack Developer you will design, develop, deliver, and support an enterprise operational application across its full software development lifecycle. This role is primarily focused on Python backend development, API and integration services, data and domain logic, checklist workflows, sensitive-site functionality, production support, roadmap delivery, and feature shipping.

You will work across a Python Flask REST API, endpoint and domain layers, PostgreSQL and PostGIS data services, enterprise integrations, containerised deployments, automated pipelines, and operational tooling. The role requires a hands-on developer who can understand an established application, improve it safely, deliver reliable functionality, and support the application through ongoing change.

This is a hybrid position based in Boorloo – Perth. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your key responsibilities

Application Ownership & Delivery

• Take technical ownership of the application across requirements, solution design, development, testing, deployment, live support, and continual improvement
• Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements, operational priorities, defects, and enhancement requests
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support full-stack changes across the complete application lifecycle
• Deliver new features, enhancements, defect fixes, and technical improvements in line with the application roadmap
• Own or contribute to feature shipping, release planning, deployment coordination, and post-release validation
• Lead support triage, prioritisation, root-cause analysis, incident resolution, and ticket management
• Maintain technical documentation, service dependencies, operational procedures, and support knowledge
• Drive continuous improvement in development processes, CI/CD pipelines, testing, documentation, maintainability, and operational practices

Solution Design & Architecture

• Define and refine secure, maintainable, scalable, and high-performing solution architectures for new and existing capabilities
• Design REST APIs, service boundaries, data flows, integration patterns, validation, error handling, and resilience strategies
• Work across API, domain, database, integration, checklist, sensitive-site, background-job, and infrastructure components
• Contribute to technical roadmaps, application modernisation, technical debt reduction, and platform evolution

Backend Development

• Develop and maintain APIs and services using:
  • Python with Flask and production service patterns
  • REST API endpoints, domain and library layers, validation, error handling, and automated tests
• Design and manage data layers using:
  • PostgreSQL with PostGIS for relational and spatial data
  • Database migrations, schema changes, queries, transactions, performance, and data integrity controls
• Develop and troubleshoot integrations using:
  • REST APIs, authentication, gateway services, scheduled jobs, and data exchange patterns
  • Enterprise, spatial, and operational data systems

Frontend Development

Develop and maintain web applications using:

• Develop and maintain user-facing features using Django-based web application technologies
• Integrate API contracts, data validation, workflows, and error handling
• Implement data presentation, filtering, tables, dashboards, and operational workflows
• Support spatial and location-based data visualisation
• Contribute to automated unit, integration, and browser-based testing

Cloud, DevOps & Production Support

• Deploy and operate application services using Microsoft Azure, including App Service, Azure Functions, Static Web Apps, and PostgreSQL Flexible Server
• Package and support application components using Docker and containerised deployment practices
• Manage infrastructure and deployment automation using Azure DevOps Pipelines, Bicep, and PowerShell
• Support configuration, environment separation, secrets, feature flags, storage, fileshare settings, and telemetry
• Use Application Insights and OpenTelemetry for monitoring, diagnostics, availability, and performance investigation

Skills and attributes for success

Core Technical Skills

• Strong full-stack development experience across enterprise applications
  • Strong hands-on Python and Flask experience developing production APIs and backend services
  • Strong PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, migrations, query performance, and troubleshooting
• Strong experience designing and integrating REST APIs and external services
• Experience developing domain and database layers for operational workflows
• Experience working across the full SDLC and delivering features against a product or technology roadmap

DevOps & Infrastructure

• Hands-on experience with Azure, Docker, Azure DevOps CI/CD, Linux, and production troubleshooting
• Experience with automated testing, release management, environment configuration, and operational support
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability practices

Leadership & Delivery

• Proven experience supporting an enterprise application through delivery, releases, roadmap execution, and live operations
• Experience managing support processes, triage, prioritisation, incident resolution, and stakeholder communication
• Ability to operate across architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, support, and roadmap planning

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

• Experience with React, TypeScript, Vite, TanStack Router, TanStack Query, Zustand, D3.js, or Tailwind CSS
• Experience supporting C#/.NET Azure Functions for health checks or background jobs
• Experience with NumPy, SciPy, Shapely, optimisation algorithms, or geometric computation
• Experience with spatial data, PostGIS, GIS visualisation, or data-intensive operational applications
• Experience with infrastructure as code, security scanning, API testing, integration testing, or end-to-end testing
• Mining, industrial, or other operational domain experience
