The opportunity
As our Director in EY’s People Consulting team, you’ll lead complex, people‑centred transformations for a dedicated account in the resources sector. You will shape solutions, own delivery of end‑to‑end engagements, and help grow a strategic account through trusted relationships and commercial outcomes. Drawing on your breadth across people, workforce and organisation disciplines, you’ll partner with senior client stakeholders to translate business strategy into practical operating models, leadership and workforce outcomes that build capability and performance while aligning to EY’s purpose of building a better working world.
This role is based in Boorloo – Perth (preferred) or Meanjin – Brisbane

Your key responsibilities
- Delivery leadership: Deliver and lead client engagements across change management, learning & capability, talent & leadership, organisation design, operating model, HR transformation, culture & engagement, and strategic workforce planning (bringing coherent methods, quality, and measurable outcomes).
- Account building: Serve as a day‑to‑day senior contact for a global diversified miner; shape account plans, expand relationships across functions and sites, and coordinate EY teams to bring the best of the firm to the client.
- Business development: Originate and qualify opportunities; craft compelling value propositions, proposals and commercials; contribute to pursuits and client presentations.
- Sector dedication: Apply deep mining and resources understanding (assets, operations, capital projects, HSE culture, workforce and remote operations) to connect people initiatives to operational outcomes.
- People leadership: Coach and develop high‑performing, inclusive teams; foster a culture of teaming, feedback, wellbeing and commercial acumen.
- Risk & quality: Ensure engagements comply with EY methodologies, risk management, responsible AI principles and independence standards.
What we look for
To be considered for this role you will have:
- Enterprise change & adoption experience across transformation strategy, stakeholder engagement, communications, training, business readiness and benefits realisation
- Mining sector fluency, including corporate to remote operations, contractor/FIFO workforces, safety‑led cultures and technology‑enabled ways of working
- Workforce & talent expertise spanning strategic workforce planning, analytics, skills/architecture, talent strategy, leadership & succession, culture and engagement
- Learning & capability design and delivery, including capability frameworks, academies, frontline and leadership development
- Organisation & operating model capability across enterprise/functional design, spans & layers, role clarity, governance and ways of working
- HR transformation experience covering HR service delivery/TOM, digital HR, AI use cases, process/policy and employee experience
- Strong personal attributes: trusted and personable relationship builder; outcome‑driven and commercially minded; resilient, accountable and values‑led (integrity, safety, inclusion, respect)
- Full Australian work rights; willingness to travel to client locations as required.
Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.
- Consulting background (typically 8–12+ years) delivering people/organisation consulting in complex environments, ideally with a global firm
- Mining/resources project experience with demonstrable impact (client‑side or consulting)
- Commercial acumen in opportunity shaping, pricing and program financial management
- Program leadership leading multi‑disciplinary teams; integrating people, process and technology; confident executive facilitation and governance
- Data‑informed mindset, comfortable translating workforce insights and analytics into action, using AI and automation as standard
- Executive‑level communication, with clear, compelling storytelling focused on outcomes
- Methods & certifications (valued): Prosci/CMI or equivalent change credentials; OD/HR/PM certifications; safety leadership exposure in industrial settings
- Ways of working: curious and pragmatic, embraces AI and future tech, coaches generously, celebrates diverse perspectives
- Tertiary qualification in HR/IR, Psychology, Commerce, Business, Organisational Development, or related field; postgraduate study valued.
