The opportunity

You will play a vital role in supporting data operations for asset management, with a focus on investment and operational data workflows. This role demands hands-on experience in managing data pipelines, executing complex SQL queries, validating data quality, and collaborating with internal teams and external data vendors. You’ll also contribute to enhancing operational processes and ensuring data integrity across systems.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Data Operations & Troubleshooting: Manage and troubleshoot data pipelines and batch processes using tools such as Control-M, SnapLogic, and AWS logs. Identify and resolve data quality issues across multiple domains.
  • SQL & Excel Execution: Read, understand, and execute complex SQL queries for data validation and root cause analysis. Utilize advanced Excel skills, including macros and nested formulas, for data processing and reconciliation.
  • Domain Expertise – Asset Management: Work closely with investment operations teams to support data workflows related to securities, benchmarks, holdings, prices, and cash. Apply a domain-first approach to issue resolution.
  • ITSM & Documentation: Track and manage incidents and service requests using standard ITSM tools. Write knowledge base articles for known issues and resolution steps.
  • Pipeline Navigation: Navigate data ingestion pipelines to identify bottlenecks and contribute to improvements in data flow and quality
  • Vendor Coordination & Escalation: Liaise with external data vendors for issue resolution, ensuring timely escalations and follow-ups when needed.
  • Knowledge Sharing & Continuous Improvement: Conduct internal walkthroughs and documentation for common issues. Share best practices across teams and contribute to SOP refinement.
     

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong knowledge of asset management business operations, especially in data domains like securities, holdings, benchmarks, and pricing.
  • Excellent SQL skills with the ability to dissect and validate complex queries.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, macros, and formula debugging.
  • Experience with batch job monitoring and troubleshooting using Control-M, SnapLogic, or similar tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to business users.
  • Ability to author clear documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles.
  • Analytical mindset with a detail-oriented approach to troubleshooting and data quality assurance.
     

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 4-6 years of experience in DataOps role
  • Hands-on experience in complex SQL query analysis and data validation
  • Strong Excel skills, including macros and advanced formulas
  • Exposure to asset management or financial services data domains (securities, prices, benchmarks, holdings, etc.)
  • Experience working with ITSM tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex data related issues 
  • Willingness to work in a 24x7 rotational shift-based support environment.

Technologies and Tools

Must haves

  • Data Operations Tools: Hands-on experience with Control-M and SnapLogic for managing data workflows and job orchestration
  • Logging & Monitoring: Ability to analyze and navigate logs in AWS CloudWatch or similar platforms
  • SQL Proficiency: Strong ability to read, debug, and execute complex SQL queries across databases such as MS SQL Server, Oracle etc. for data validation and analysis
  • Excel Expertise: Advanced Excel skills including macros, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas for data reconciliation
  • Data Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of core asset management datasets – Securities, Holdings, Benchmarks, Prices, and Cash
  • ITSM Tools: Proficient in using ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM tools for incident tracking and resolution documentation

 

Good to have

  • Scripting & Automation: Exposure to Python or Shell scripting for process automation
  • ETL & Data Pipeline Navigation: Familiarity with data ingestion tools and pipeline frameworks
