Job Name - GDS Consulting SAP Finance Leader
Position Summary
GDS Technology Consulting is organized around SAP, Oracle and Microsoft platforms. Within SAP, Finance is the core of enterprise transformation, especially in S/4HANA programs, enabling digital finance, real-time reporting, compliance, and business performance management. GDS SAP is poised for significant growth over the next 4-5 years, driven by increasing demand for S/4HANA Finance transformations, Central Finance, Group Reporting and Treasury. With GDS supporting 100+ clients and 120+ SAP programs, the Executive Director - Finance Lead role is critical to own, scale, and mature the SAP Finance capability within GDS.
This role will be accountable for building a differentiated Finance transformation proposition, ensuring high-quality delivery of complex finance programs, embedding automation and digital finance capabilities, and enabling member firms with scalable, industrialized finance solutions aligned to EY’s growth strategy.
Essential Functions of the job The scope of the position will include
- Lead the GDS SAP Finance capability, covering S/4HANA Finance (GL, AP, AR, AA), Central Finance, Group Reporting, Treasury, and Financial Close & Reporting
- Provide SME coverage for large-scale SAP Finance transformation programs, ensuring quality, scalability, and value realization
- Act as the primary GDS Finance leader interface for stakeholders across member firms, regions, and service lines. Collaborate with Finance Business consulting competency.
- Define and track finance transformation outcomes including close cycle efficiency, reporting accuracy, compliance, and cost optimization
- Drive automation, Al, and digital finance accelerators
- Partner with sales and solution teams on finance-led pursuits including solution definition, value articulation, and client presentations
- Build and scale a strong SAP Finance leadership bench across GDS locations
- Establish finance standards, global templates, and delivery playbooks aligned to EY and SAP leading practices
- Foster a high-performance, innovation-led culture within the SAP Finance practice
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities
- Work across EY member firms to design finance-led transformation solutions
- Evaluate multiple finance transformation approaches (Brownfield, Greenfield, Central Finance)
- Embed automation to improve efficiency, compliance, and auditability
- Balance business, regulatory, and technology considerations
- Drive alignment across EY, clients, and ecosystem partners
Education & Experience
- Strong understanding of SAP Finance landscape (S/4HANA Finance, Central Finance, Group Reporting, Treasury, Fl integration)
- Experience designing end-to-end finance architectures integrated
- with procurement, supply chain, and analytics platforms
- Proven track record of delivering large SAP Finance transformation programs and managing SAP Finance sub-competency
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- Strong understanding of financial processes, regulatory requirements, and reporting frameworks
- Knowledge of finance automation, Al-driven close processes, and digital finance innovations
- Ability to support sales teams in finance-led pursuits, including value-
- led storytelling and transformation roadmaps.
