Software Engineer - Specialist, Software Engineering

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Database Administrator with expertise across both on-premises and Azure SQL platforms to ensure high availability, performance, and security of enterprise database systems. The role requires strong experience in database operations, performance tuning, and migration to Azure environments, with a focus on delivering reliable managed services and minimizing operational risks.

 

People responsibilities

  • Core SQL Server DBA Expertise: Strong experience in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and database design.
  • Azure Database Management: Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance, including monitoring and administration.
  • HA/DR Expertise: Experience with replication and high availability solutions to ensure database reliability.
  • Migration Expertise: Exposure to SQL Server to Azure migrations and modernization initiatives.
  • Operations & Optimization: Ability to troubleshoot issues, monitor performance, and drive operational improvements.

 

Requirements (including experience, skills and additional qualifications)

Technical skills requirements

  • Technical Skills: Strong T-SQL, query optimization, indexing, and understanding of RDBMS.
  • Azure Cloud: Experience with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, and Azure monitoring tools.
  • Certifications: Azure Database Administrator (DP-300) or equivalent preferred.

 

Additional requirements

  • Windows & Platform Knowledge: General knowledge of Windows Server environments and database infrastructure.
  • ETL & Analytics Exposure: Experience with SSIS and Analysis Services is an added advantage.
  • Scripting: Exposure to PowerShell or automation scripting is beneficial.
  • Monitoring & Tools: Familiarity with tools like SolarWinds, Foglight, or SQL Profiler is preferred.
