Job Title: Senior Manager – Solution Architecture
Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager – Solution Architecture to lead the design and governance of end-to-end enterprise solutions supporting data products and corporate finance transformation.
This role combines solution strategy, architecture leadership, and people management, translating complex business requirements into secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions. The ideal candidate will connect business processes, applications, data, integration, and cloud technologies to enable transformation across P2P, O2C, R2R, and FP&A.
You will own solution architecture quality across engagements, lead a team of architects, and partner with enterprise architecture, product, engineering, security, and business leaders to guide solutions from discovery through implementation and business value realization.
Responsibilities:
Solution Strategy & Architecture Leadership
- Own end-to-end solution architecture across complex transformation initiatives, aligning business capabilities, functional requirements, and technology choices with enterprise strategy.
- Lead discovery and architecture workshops to define solution scope, assess current-state landscapes, and develop target-state designs and phased transition roadmaps.
- Define architecture across application, data, integration, infrastructure, and security domains, with clear component responsibilities, interfaces, deployment models, and dependencies.
- Evaluate build-versus-buy options, cloud services, enterprise products, and emerging technologies through structured trade-off analysis and targeted proofs of concept.
- Establish reference architectures, design patterns, architecture decision records, and review standards; ensure alignment with enterprise principles and govern justified exceptions.
- Lead architecture reviews and resolve cross-domain design challenges, balancing business fit, scalability, resilience, security, maintainability, and total cost of ownership.
Architecture Governance & Delivery Excellence
- Provide architecture oversight across concurrent engagements, maintaining traceability from requirements to design decisions, implementation, and acceptance criteria.
- Partner with engineering and delivery teams to translate designs into actionable work, validate feasibility, and manage technical dependencies, design changes, and architecture risks.
- Define measurable non-functional requirements for availability, performance, scalability, recovery, and supportability; guide validation through testing and operational readiness reviews.
- Develop migration and modernization approaches, including data migration, coexistence, cutover, and rollback; align sequencing, estimates, and cost assumptions with delivery teams.
- Embed security, privacy, data governance, and applicable compliance requirements in solution designs, working with control owners to assess risks and close design gaps.
Team Leadership & Talent Management
- Lead and scale a solution architecture team, coordinating application, data, integration, cloud, and security specialists across engagements.
- Build an inclusive, high-performance architecture practice focused on sound judgment, collaboration, reusable knowledge, and measurable business outcomes.
- Own hiring, resource allocation, performance management, succession planning, and capability development aligned with business demand and technology priorities.
- Mentor architects and technical leads on design quality, business understanding, stakeholder influence, and career growth; strengthen communities of practice and peer reviews.
Business & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with business leaders, finance transformation stakeholders, product owners, and clients to clarify needs and translate them into feasible solution options.
- Present solution alternatives, investment needs, trade-offs, and risks to decision-makers; secure alignment on scope, target architecture, and expected business outcomes.
- Lead architecture inputs for proposals, RFP responses, and client presentations, including solution narratives, estimates, assumptions, dependencies, and implementation approaches.
- Communicate architecture decisions, delivery implications, technical risks, and business value clearly to executive and technical audiences.
Reusable Solutions & Innovation
- Develop reusable solution blueprints, accelerators, and integration patterns that improve consistency, reduce delivery effort, and support repeatable client outcomes.
- Assess opportunities to simplify application portfolios and modernize legacy solutions, balancing reuse and standardization with business-specific requirements.
- Evaluate analytics, automation, and AI-enabled solutions through business cases and proofs of value, addressing data readiness, security, responsible use, and operational feasibility.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 12+ years of experience across solution architecture, software engineering, enterprise integration, or data platforms, including ownership of complex enterprise solution designs.
- 5+ years of architecture or engineering people-management experience, with a proven track record of leading architects or technical leads across multiple programs or engagements.
Technical Expertise
- Deep experience designing solutions on at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including hybrid integration, deployment models, resilience, and cost considerations.
- Strong expertise in application architecture, APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, enterprise integration patterns, and the trade-offs between distributed and simpler architectures.
- Strong understanding of data architecture, including transactional systems, data warehouses or lakehouses, data pipelines, master data, and analytics integration.
- Experience producing architecture models, interface specifications, decision records, and non-functional requirements; familiarity with frameworks or methods such as TOGAF, C4, or ArchiMate.
- Expertise in secure solution design, identity and access management, data protection, and enterprise governance, with working knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and operational support.
Architecture & Delivery Skills
- Proven ability to guide enterprise solutions from discovery and option assessment through design governance, implementation oversight, and transition to operations.
- Experience leading architecture reviews, proofs of concept, vendor evaluations, and risk assessments while managing cross-team dependencies and stakeholder expectations.
- Strong skills in technical estimation, total cost of ownership analysis, modernization planning, and evaluating performance, resilience, and scalability trade-offs.
Domain & Functional Knowledge
- Understanding of enterprise business processes and data models; exposure to corporate finance processes (P2P, O2C, R2R, and FP&A) is preferred.
- Experience in finance transformation, ERP integration, analytics platforms, or data-led enterprise transformation is highly desirable.
Leadership & Behavioral Skills
- Strong people leadership, practice development, and coaching skills, with the ability to lead architects and influence multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills, including executive-level engagement and client-facing solution presentations.
- Ability to balance strategic architecture with pragmatic delivery, challenge assumptions constructively, and make clear decisions under ambiguity.
- High ownership mindset focused on solution quality, implementation feasibility, sustainable technology choices, and measurable business outcomes.
