Senior – International Tax
Service Line: International Tax and Transaction Services (ITTS)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and technically strong Senior – International tax to join our International tax and Transaction Tax Services (ITTS) practice. The role will focus on supporting US-based clients, particularly in the financial services and investment funds sector, on complex international tax matters, cross-border transactions, fund structuring and tax-efficient operating models.
The ideal candidate will possess practical knowledge of international tax, US tax concepts and cross-border advisory matters (including PFIC, CFC, GILTI, ECI, WHT, PE, TP and accounting for income tax matters). The role requires a strong research, analytical, communication and execution skills with the ability to prepare high-quality client deliverables and work effectively with EY network offices and client stakeholders.
Qualifications and experience
- Professional qualification such as CA/ CPA/ CFA or equivalent preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Tax, Economics, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in international tax / M&A / Transaction tax / Cross border tax advisory in a client facing role.
- Prior experience with a leading professional services firm preferred.
- Good understanding of international taxation, including cross-border structuring, treaty analysis, withholding tax, permanent establishment matters.
- Exposure to financial services sector will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of US tax concepts, including PFIC, CFC, GILTI and ECI, will be highly valued.
- Strong analytical, research, communication, organisational and project execution skills
- Ability to manage engagements, coordinate with multiple stakeholders and deliver within deadlines.
- Experience in supporting international tax projects
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Advanced Excel.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll support the growth of our US International Tax practice by contributing to high-quality international tax advisory services to US-based clients, particularly in the financial services, investment funds, private equity and asset management sectors.
You will be required to
- Support the delivery of international tax engagements and assist in advising clients on cross-border tax matters.
- Conduct tax technical research on US and international tax issues, including PFIC, CFC, GILTI, ECI, permanent establishment, withholding tax and transfer pricing considerations.
- Prepare draft tax memoranda, reports, client presentations and other deliverables under manager supervision.
- Assist in reviewing fund structures, cross-border transactions, reorganizations and tax-efficient holding, financing and operating structures.
- Support analysis of income tax risks related to accounting for income taxes and client tax positions.
- Monitor relevant international tax developments, including BEPS, MLI, anti-hybrid rules and treaty-related changes.
- Coordinate with EY network offices, service providers and client stakeholders to gather inputs and support multi-jurisdictional tax solutions.
- Identify technical issues, tax risks and planning opportunities, and summarize practical recommendations for review.
- Manage assigned workstreams, timelines and documentation while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
- Support internal training, knowledge-sharing and go-to-market initiatives.
- Guide and review the work of junior team members, as required, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Comply with EY risk management, independence and quality review requirements.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of international tax projects, including fund structuring, accounting for income taxes, operating model reviews, tax due diligence, permanent establishment assessments, and group restructuring and financing projects.
