The opportunity
We are looking for a Manager to join our Life Insurance Actuarial Practice delivering AXIS modeling solutions to the leading clients in Insurance Sector, working closely with other Staff/Assistants, Consultants/Seniors, Managers, Senior Managers or Client partners in EY’s global network of insurance sector and consulting professionals.
You can expect to work along with senior managers/directors to support large scale engagements and deliver high-quality client solutions. You will develop and maintain long-term relationships and networks, build and energize a high performing team.

- Responsible for decision-making, optimizing processes, resource management, and overseeing team management as needed for task execution.
- Accountable for allocating personnel, supervising team members, assigning tasks, ensuring that the team has the necessary tools and support to succeed in their roles and optimizing and evaluating their performance to meet organizational goals.
Your key responsibilities
As a Manager within the Actuarial AXIS modelling team your role involves developing and implementing solutions both within the Insurance service line and in collaboration with other services lines.
On engagements, you will:
- Responsible for providing high quality results and generating effective solutions working along with Senior Consultants, Managers or Senior Managers in delivering the project
- Demonstrate the ability to apply their problem-solving skills to new and complex situations and problems with minimal supervision and maintain quality and accuracy
- Provide focused solutions and training to Staff/Senior members
- Be responsible for ensuring all engagement are delivered within time
- Deliver engagements in line with our values and commitment to quality, consistently driving projects to completion and ensuring that work is of high standards
- Establish/manage priorities, create/manage work plans, communicate the status of activities, and accumulate/report all chargeable hours
- Maintain a strong stakeholder focus and maintain/develop productive working relationships with stakeholders and other team members
Within the actuarial practice you will:
- Communicate the results of analysis to actuaries in other geographical regions such as Australia, North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, UK and European Countries
- Overall 8+ to 15 years of actuarial experience with 6+ years of AXIS modeling experience or in AXIS valuation / reporting / pricing experience in life actuarial team of an insurance / consulting / outsourcing company
- Good understanding of US/ Canada product lines and regulations; hands-on IFRS17 or LDTI implementation experience (optional)
- Project management experience and ability to handle teams and multiple stakeholders
- Advance modelling experience in AXIS software
- Ability to review work done by junior members, ensuring quality of work product during time sensitive deadlines
- Strong presentation and documentation skills

To qualify for the role, you must have
- Qualified or Part/ nearly Qualified Actuary with at least 8+ years to 15 years of experience in Life Insurance industry, either within a consulting firm or an Insurer or an organisation providing Insurance services (such as reserving, IFRS17 or LDTI)
- Ability to multi-task and flexible work attitude packed with good analytical skills
- Experience of handling a moderate sized team will be an advantage
- Proficiency in MS-Office Suite, Power BI, VBA, SAS, R Programming, Python, SQL, SPSS, etc., will be a plus
- Ideally, you’ll also have
- Strong academic background with a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or finance related supplemented ideally with a professional qualification
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing industry studies and stakeholder presentations
- Ability to review work done by junior members, ensuring quality of work product during time sensitive deadlines
- The ability to build relationships with colleagues across the business, support them and promote a collaborative environment
- Overseas exposure (especially US/Canada/Europe/UK/Australia market experience)
What we look for
- Deep knowledge and experience of the insurance industry and/or consulting. Relevant recent big 4 experience in leading actuarial engagement with recognised insurers will be an advantage. This ideally should be complemented by employment experience within the Insurance sector either at an insurer, intermediary or regulator
- Up to date knowledge of the regulatory environment impacting insurers and other financial service organisations
- Experience of supporting teams to high quality timely delivery, actively building relationships and promoting a collaborative culture when working with colleagues
