EY-Parthenon – Strategy Software Group –Manager (GDS)
We are seeking a Manager to join the Software Strategy Group (SSG) within EY-Parthenon GDS team. This is an exceptional opportunity to build a career at the nexus of two of the hottest segments of the economy: technology and private equity investing.
The SSG team helps private equity clients evaluate investment opportunities by discovering key risks that could impact a transaction in the software sector. SSG teams undertake market-leading product and technology diligence of software-driven companies. This entails an assessment of product capabilities, product roadmaps and underlying technical architecture, software R&D organization and the processes associated with the software organization.
Your key responsibilities:
Project Execution:
- Lead engagements and for serving as key liaisons between consulting team members, firm leadership, and our clients.
- Execute technology due diligence engagements and support engagement managers / Case Team Leaders (CTLs) with ownership for high quality deliverables prepared by Global Delivery Services team
- Prepare and present clear, analytical and concise reports and presentations for engagement teams and clients, outlining the key technological findings, business impact and recommendations
- Being an engagement lead, work with private equities and C-suite executives of technology firms to asses technical capabilities of their products or firm and how they fit-to-serve client’s business requirements
- Ensuring quality of delivery: Mentor junior team members providing guidance on project execution and ensuring high quality of delivery
- Build and grow long-term relationships with clients as their trusted strategic advisors.
- Stay updated about the latest developments in technology and constantly update the due diligence process accordingly
- Participate / Manage firm building responsibilities like hiring, training, and counselling.
Skills and attributes for success:
- Deep understanding of the software development process and various best practices. Capability to evaluate the product lifecycle, from inception and development to deployment and maintenance. Strong technical knowledge to assess technical architecture, technology stack, and hosting technologies
- A well-rounded understanding of various technologies, platforms, and applications is vital. This may include software development, cloud computing, product roadmap, cybersecurity, data analytics, and more
- Ability to clearly convey technical information to non-technical individuals, write clear reports, and make compelling presentations.
- Experience of transactions, ideally in performing Technology Due Diligence and/or strategic value creation assignments (AI diligence experience is a plus)
- Structured thought process and proficiency in the English language, including the ability to listen, understand, read and communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, in a professional environment
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- MBA with a bachelor's degree in IT/ software engineering with at least 8+ years of software-related work experience
- Experience in PE / M&A transactions, ideally in performing Technology Due Diligence and/or strategic value creation assignments.
- Demonstrable experience or knowledge of structured methodologies and industry standards for Product Management, UI/UX design principles, Software Architecture, Software Development Life Cycle methods and the ability to provide insights based on experience
- Ability to make detailed assessments of industry, products, markets, competitors and customers to identify risks and opportunities
- Ability to assess complex technology environments and analyse them in the context of business objectives. This includes the ability to understand, interpret and evaluate data.
