We are seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join our Pursuits KRO PE team within Strategy and Transactions. The role will focus on supporting Private Equity focused origination, business development, sector research, market intelligence, investment opportunity identification and go-to-market materials for global SaT stakeholders.
As a member of the Knowledge, Research, and Origination team, the person will work closely with global EY teams, sector leaders, account teams and regional stakeholders to develop high-quality research-backed insights, opportunity papers, deal origination materials, capital agenda packs, value creation perspectives, industry insight packs and thought leadership content. The role provides an opportunity to contribute to strategic C-suite conversations and support EY teams across the pre-deal and origination lifecycle.

Your key responsibilities:
As part of the Pursuits KRO PE team, you will help global SaT teams identify, assess and convert market opportunities through research, analysis and high-impact client-ready outputs. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Support pre-deal and origination activities including deal origination meeting decks, PoV packs, opportunity papers, value creation opportunity packs, industry insight packs, divestiture opportunity decks, thought leadership packs and idea generation support.
- Develop Private Equity focused go-to-market materials by identifying sector themes, investment trends, portfolio opportunities, exit readiness situations, cross-border deal opportunities and sub-sector watch themes.
- Work across the end-to-end engagement lifecycle, from proposal development and pursuit support to engagement execution, delivery management and stakeholder communication
- Conduct company, sector and market research to support transaction screening, industry mapping, target identification, buyer / investor profiling, M&A theme development and investment thesis creation
- Work across the early stages of the M&A deal lifecycle, including deal origination, transaction screening, industry research, precedent transaction analysis, comparable company analysis and preparation of strategic pursuit materials
- Identify actionable business development insights by analyzing market trends, M&A drivers, competitive dynamics, funding activity, valuation trends and sector-specific transaction themes
- Prepare and review PowerPoint and Word-based reports that synthesize research findings, strategic implications and opportunity areas in a clear, structured and client-ready manner
- Support global stakeholders in developing thought leadership reports, account-specific opportunity papers and capital allocation insights for strategic conversations with clients and leadership teams
- Apply an “answer-first” and structured problem-solving approach to convert unstructured business questions into clear, evidence-backed insights and recommendations.
- Build strong working relationships with global stakeholders and EY sector / account teams, ensuring a high degree of stakeholder satisfaction with the engagement process and work products.
- Manage multiple medium-complexity projects simultaneously while ensuring quality, timeliness and consistency of deliverables.
- Guide and supervise junior team members, review their outputs, provide feedback and help them develop strong research, analytical and business writing skills.
- Act as a counsellor / coach for team members where required, support goal setting, performance discussions and identify learning and development needs.
- Contribute to the development of intellectual capital, reusable sector assets, templates, trackers and best-practice materials for the Pursuits KRO PE team.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- Strategy Consulting experience with competitive firms, such as the Big 4, MBB and boutique consulting firms
- MBA / Master’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, commerce or a related discipline
- 8-10 years of relevant work experience in research, consulting, transaction advisory, investment banking, corporate strategy, financial analytics, equity research, business development or knowledge services
- Good understanding of the M&A deal lifecycle, including origination, screening, industry research, precedent transactions, comparative valuation analysis and preparation of opportunity materials
- Strong understanding of business development and go-to-market support, including preparation of company profiles, sector points of view, investment opportunity materials, account packs and thought leadership documents
- Ability to identify industry trends, sector themes, risks, opportunities and transaction drivers, and translate them into clear commercial insights
- Strong analytical skills with working knowledge of financial statement analysis, company benchmarking, market sizing, transaction analysis and valuation concepts
- Strong business writing and communication skills, with the ability to develop structured, concise and senior stakeholder-ready outputs
- Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, with the ability to create high-quality presentations, analysis packs and business development materials
- Familiarity with research databases and tools such as Capital IQ, Refinitiv, Factiva, PitchBook, Mergermarket, Bloomberg, Gartner, IDC or similar platforms
- Proficiency in Gen AI and prompt engineering
- Ability to work effectively with global stakeholders across geographies, manage expectations and deliver under tight timelines
What the job would entail
As part of 100+ members strong Pursuits KRO team, you will support EY global teams in developing research-led, insight-driven and commercially relevant materials that help identify and progress potential business opportunities. The role will involve working on sector and company research, investment theme development, opportunity identification, transaction screening, industry analysis, market mapping, benchmarking, deal intelligence and preparation of pursuit materials.
You will support strategic conversations with global SaT leaders, sector teams and account teams by developing materials such as go-to-market decks, PoV packs, opportunity papers, industry insight packs, divestiture opportunity decks, value creation perspectives and thought leadership reports.
The role requires a combination of research depth, commercial judgment, analytical ability, strong communication and the ability to translate data and information into clear business implications. You will also be expected to manage workstreams independently, review the work of junior team members and contribute to the development of reusable knowledge assets for the team.
