Proposed Role Title: Senior Manager, Energy Trading – NextGen Services
Objective and Purpose
The Senior Manager in GDS India for Energy Trading Managed Services will play a critical role in scaling and delivering new expected client work for Expand Energy while supporting market activation across priority Energy Trading opportunities. This role will help shape and operationalize go‑to‑market strategy, develop compelling service offerings and messaging, and build repeatable assets to accelerate growth of the Energy Trading Managed Services practice within the Oil, Gas, and Chemicals sector while building out our India capability.
Scope of the Position
The scope of the position will include
- Lead GDS delivery for Energy Trading Managed Services engagements, with initial focus on Expand Energy, ensuring high‑quality, outcomes‑driven execution.
- Support transition from project‑based work to steady‑state managed services, including stabilization, knowledge transfer, and run‑state readiness.
- Monitor delivery performance, risks, and dependencies, escalating issues and driving resolution in partnership with onshore leadership.
- Define and operationalize Energy Trading Managed Services offerings, including service scope, delivery assumptions, and operating models.
- Develop and standardize delivery artifacts such as SOPs, run‑books, process flows, & governance, Support onboarding, training, and upskilling of resources in Energy Trading domain and managed services delivery.
- Assist with workforce planning by defining skills, roles, and capacity needs aligned to forecasted demand.
- Provide delivery and functional leadership to GDS teams supporting Energy Trading Managed Services
Knowledge Required for Disciplines
- Deep domain expertise in end‑to‑end Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) across physical and financial commodities, covering front‑, mid‑, and back‑office processes (deal capture through settlement and close).
- Extensive functional leadership across leading ETRM platforms (RightAngle, Allegro, Endur), including configuration, enhancements, UAT, cutover, and production support.
- Proven Application Managed Services (AMS) and offshore delivery leadership, managing SLAs, escalations, and business‑critical trading operations at scale.
- Strong understanding of risk management, controls, and financial processes, including MTM, P&L, VaR, credit exposure, invoicing, settlement, and month‑end close.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with traders, risk, operations, finance, and IT stakeholders, translating complex business requirements into scalable delivery models.
- Experience building and scaling offshore capabilities, including team ramp‑up, training, competency frameworks, and support for pursuits and pre‑sales activities. programs.
Knowledge Required beyond job
- Managed Services commercial and financial acumen, including annuity pricing models, margin management, cost‑to‑serve, and outcome‑based / SLA‑driven contracts.
- Go‑to‑market and offering leadership experience, including shaping service portfolios, market messaging, POVs, and reusable sales assets (beyond RFP contribution).
- Executive‑level client advisory and influencing skills, particularly for positioning long‑term operate models versus project or AMS support.
- EY‑style risk, independence, and governance awareness specific to Managed Services, including controls, compliance, and service accountability models.
- Practice‑scale leadership mindset, shifting from engagement delivery to portfolio thinking (standardization, reuse, cross‑account leverage).
- Broader Oil, Gas & Chemicals sector context, connecting Energy Trading Managed Services to adjacent functions (Finance, IT Ops, Data/AI, SAP, Risk) for integrated growth plays.

- Complex operational problem solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve issues spanning trading, risk, scheduling, settlement, and accounting where root causes cut across people, process, and technology.

- Production‑critical incident resolution: Skill in leading structured triage during trading, risk, or settlement disruptions, prioritizing business impact and restoring service under time pressure.
- Systems‑to‑business translation: Ability to connect ETRM system behavior to real trading and risk outcomes, isolating whether issues stem from configuration, data, process gaps, or user behavior.
- Scalable solution design: Capability to move beyond one‑off fixes and design repeatable, standardized solutions suitable for managed services delivery at scale.
- Stakeholder‑balanced problem resolution: Ability to reconcile competing priorities across traders, risk, finance, IT, and leadership while maintaining control, governance, and service integrity.

- Trading, Risk, Operations, and Finance leaders to align managed services delivery with trading outcomes, risk controls, and financial close requirements.
- Client IT and data teams to coordinate system stability, enhancements, integrations, and production issue resolution.
- Client executives and service owners to support transition from project/AMS work to long‑term managed services and outcome‑based models.
- Americas Energy Trading and Managed Services leadership to align delivery priorities, market activation efforts, and practice growth objectives.
- GDS delivery teams and team leads to ensure execution quality, capability development, and scalable delivery models.
- Resource management and talent teams to support hiring, ramp‑up, and skill alignment for Energy Trading Managed Services demand.
Team management
- Scaled team build & ramp‑up leadership: Ability to stand up new delivery teams, define roles and skill requirements, onboard resources quickly, and establish operating rhythms for managed services delivery.
- Hybrid delivery model management: Experience coordinating work across internal GDS teams, onshore counterparts, and subcontractor partners with clear ownership, handoffs, and accountability.
- Performance & quality management: Ability to set expectations, monitor delivery quality, manage SLAs/KPIs, and drive continuous improvement across both EY and partner resources.
- Vendor and subcontractor orchestration: Skill in managing subcontractor relationships, including scope alignment, dependency management, escalation handling, and integration into EY governance models.
- Capability development & knowledge transfer: Ability to design training, documentation, and knowledge‑sharing mechanisms to reduce dependency on individuals and partners over time.
