Senior Consultant – Market Access (US)
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Consultant to join our dynamic Value and Access team, focusing on US market access strategies for pharmaceutical and biotech clients. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the life sciences industry, with a strong understanding of payer dynamics, pricing strategies, reimbursement landscapes, and evidence requirements across major healthcare systems.
This role involves leading project workstreams, developing client relationships, and delivering strategic insights that shape access, pricing, and launch readiness for innovative therapies.
Project Leadership And Client Management
- Lead and manage key workstreams within consulting projects, ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables.
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients as a primary point of contact.
Market Access Strategy
- Develop and present strategic recommendations on:
- US market access strategy
- Pricing and reimbursement approaches
- Value proposition development
- Payer engagement and negotiation tactics
- Launch readiness planning
US Market Access Expertise
- Map payer decision pathways across commercial payers, PBMs, Medicare Part B/D, Medicaid (state-level), specialty pharmacies, and IDNs.
- Assess formulary access levers (tiering, PA/step edits, carve-outs, utilization management).
- Produce payer segmentation and prioritize target payers by likelihood-to-cover and commercial impact.
- Interpret payer primary research outputs (if available) or third-party interviews to generate payer messaging, value drivers, and evidence sequencing.
Pricing And Reimbursement
- Support US pricing inputs: list price considerations, net price dynamics (rebates, discounts), ASP/WAC interactions.
- Model price-sensitivity and revenue-impact scenarios for contracting approaches (rebates, 340B, outcomes-based agreements).
- Align US price corridors with global pricing and launch sequencing.
Evidence Assessment
- Review and synthesize ICER reports, payer coverage policies, Medicare NCDs/LCDs.
- Identify evidence gaps and mitigation strategies for coverage and formulary placement after mapping clinical and real-world evidence (RWE) requirements.
- Build evidence requirement matrices tailored to US payer segments.
Launch And Lifecycle Access Planning
- Develop US launch access playbooks: pre-launch payer engagement priorities, formulary pre-submissions, early evidence generation, and distribution/channel strategy (hub, specialty pharmacy, buy-and-bill vs buy-and-hold).
- Monitor early-access signals post-launch and recommend tactical interventions
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with HEOR, RWE, and PMR teams to align evidence generation with access needs.
- Create client-ready deliverables: payer landscape decks, pricing models, evidence matrices, and executive summaries.
Business Development AndThought Leadership
- Support senior leadership in proposal development and client presentations.
- Contribute to thought leadership through publications and industry insights.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, or economics; advanced degree (MBA, PhD, MPH) preferred.
- Experience: 4–6 years in life sciences consulting with a focus on market access, pricing, HEOR, and US payer strategy.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong Excel modeling for pricing and revenue simulations.
- Ability to interpret payer policies, ICER reports, and formulary data.
- Domain Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of US payer architecture (PBMs, Medicare, Medicaid, specialty pharmacy pathways).
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Consulting-quality presentation and stakeholder management.
Innovative thinkers with an entrepreneurial spirit who can develop creative solutions to complex challenges. Strong intellectual rigor combined with practical problem-solving skills and the ability to foster effective teamwork.
