This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing and aspiring EY non-life insurance actuarial team. We are more than just a conventional actuarial consultancy and enjoy the advantages of being part of "Big 4 firm" multi-service-line offerings. We operate in the local insurance market, as well as supporting the delivery of actuarial solutions of our broader European and Global actuarial network. We are looking for an experienced non-life insurance actuary to join our actuarial team.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to

  • Work in the traditional actuarial areas, such as reserving, pricing and capital modelling, but also deploy, which may include projects covering analytics, business steering, capital optimisation, actuarial and finance transformation.
  • Assist clients operating in the local insurance market, but also the potential to work across borders, supporting a market leading actuarial team within the UK and European insurance markets.

We have a strong reputation in the Cyprus insurance market for exceptional client service and for our bespoke offerings to solve our clients’ problems. You would be an integral part of building out the team and delivering on our growth strategy in the actuarial space.

Your key responsibilities

  • Assist in the technical delivery and reporting for projects, managing teams of actuarial consultants and taking ownership of the overall project delivery.
  • Assist in discussions with client contacts and help to manage expectations of delivery, content, timescales and cost.
  • Present to clients at different levels, including senior executive and board levels.
  • Collaborate on non-actuarial led projects as a topic / subject matter specialist (where appropriate).
  • Contribute to the development of intellectual property to support sales-oriented client interaction.
  • Assist in responding to client proposals.

To qualify for the role you must

  • Be able to apply actuarial approaches through a commercial lens and help our clients improve the way they operate.
  • Have a strong academic record, including a degree and professional actuarial qualifications (IFoA or similar, qualified or part-qualified)
  • Have experience of at least two of the following:
    • Claims reserving under different accounting bases
    • Development or review of Solvency II technical provisions
    • Review or validation of Solvency II internal models and/or standard formula
    • Building and developing capital models
    • Actuarial support for implementation of IFRS 17
  • Be a strong team player and be able to work flexibly on different clients and different engagements.
  • Have experience in managing project teams and contributing to building a high performing and inclusive team working environment.
  • Have strong quality ethic and drive to focus on professional development.
  • Be a problem solver; tailoring what you have learnt from your experiences to date to different client problems to help design and implement the solution.
  • Be an excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral.

Strongly desirable but not essential

  • Experience in working in the London market, or UK general insurance market.
  • Using actuarial software packages for reserving or capital modelling.
