To achieve this, we are seeking a Data Engineer to join our Transformation Realized™ Consulting practice to support our clients in designing and implementing modern data platforms, building scalable data pipelines, and enabling advanced analytics and business intelligence solutions. Our team is part of EY’s Europe Central (EC) cluster, delivering market leading services to organizations across industries in Cyprus and internationally.   

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines and data architectures
  • Build and optimize Databricks-based solutions using Apache Spark and Delta Lake
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-impact data solutions
  • Implement and monitor data quality, validation, and governance processes
  • Contribute to data platform design and best practices across projects
  • Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for ingesting and transforming data from a variety of sources
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering standards
  • Document and improve end-to-end data flows and data lifecycle management 

 

 

Skills and Attributes for Success

 

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in data engineering or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and Apache Spark (core requirement)
  • Strong experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
  • Good understanding of data modelling techniques (e.g., star schema, fact/dimension models, SCDs)
  • Experience working with modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery)
  • Experience building and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Ability to work with structured and unstructured data across different data sources
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams

 

 

It will be a plus if you have  

 

  • Experience with Azure Databricks ecosystem (ADF, ADLS, Synapse integration)
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or Scala
  • Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Azure Data Factory)
  • Exposure to CI/CD for data pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica)
  • Experience in agile/lean development environments
  • Industry experience in Financial Services (Banking, Insurance)
