To achieve this, we are seeking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Transformation Realized™ Consulting practice to support our clients in defining and rolling out the right data architecture, data platforms and infrastructure that support their needs, implement, and maintain automated data pipelines, and infuse data through business intelligence and analytics. Our team is part of EY’s Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe & Central Asia (CESA) cluster, delivering market leading services to organizations across industries in Cyprus and internationally.

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and architectures 

  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions 

  • Implement and monitor data quality, data validation, and data governance processes 

  • Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews to ensure high standards 

  • Architect, document, and optimise end-to-end data flows in alignment with best practises 

  • Support in designing and rolling out the data architecture and infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources  

 

 

Skills and Attributes for Success 

 

  • Bachelor’s and/or master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or another relevant subject  

  • 3+ years of experience, able to lead projects and mentor others 

  • Experience with data modelling, design patterns, and building highly scalable and secure data solutions and infrastructure. 

  • Knowledge of data warehouses, data marts and general data model techniques (Fact and Dimensional tables, Slowly Changing Dimensions)  

  • Familiar with big data and cloud analytics platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Apache Spark, Hadoop) 

  • Experience with ETL tools (e.g. Matillion, SSIS, dbt)  

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases such as MS SQL, DB2, Oracle, MySQL  

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of data types (i.e. structured and unstructured), extracting and integrating data from modern and legacy data platforms  

  • You have effective communication and presentation skills  

 

 

It will be a plus if you have  

 

  • Experience CI/CD for data pipelines 

  • Experience in cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform)  

  • Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Azure Data Factory) 

  • Experience with enterprise data governance tools such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica, or similar 

  • Strong business understanding of the financial sector (Banking, Insurance) 

  • You have experience with lean/agile software development
