We are currently seeking an energetic and dynamic Advocate with at least five years of post-qualification experience to join Koukounis, Karaolis LLC | EY Law in Nicosia to provide legal services, including comprehensive ongoing legal support (“General Counsel” services) to EY Cyprus entities. This role involves engaging with a diverse range of legal matters and areas, offering exposure to both routine and complex corporate and commercial work while collaborating with other advocates, including General Counsel Office colleagues of EY firms based in other jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the team which provides “General Counsel” services to the EY firms based in Cyprus on a daily basis, reporting to the Senior Advocate leading the team.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of corporate and commercial documents, from routine corporate governance instruments to complex commercial contracts.
- Delivering consistent and high-quality legal advice/opinions on a diverse range of legal matters which may include data protection (GDPR) and employment law matters.
- Providing practical, business-focused legal support.
Skills and attributes for success
- Member of the Cyprus Bar Association.
- Law degree from a reputable university (preferably UK, other common law, or English-language degree).
- Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience.
- Legal experience, particularly in corporate, commercial, and contract law.
- Employment law and data protection (GDPR) knowledge considered an advantage.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Greek.
- Ability to demonstrate strong integrity, professionalism, and ethical judgment.
- Proactive approach with the ability to address issues before they escalate.
- Working effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong risk identification and management skills, with the ability to assess legal and commercial implications.
- Willingness to handle a full range of tasks, from routine to complex work integral to the role.
- Ability to prioritize and deliver high-quality work and advice under tight deadlines.
