AI-Native Java Developer

To achieve this, we are seeking an AI-Native Java Developer to join our Transformation Realized™ Consulting practice. Our team is part of EY’s Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe & Central Asia (CESA) cluster, delivering market leading services to organizations across industries in Cyprus and internationally.

Your Key Responsibilities 

Software Development 

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade cloud-native applications using Java and Spring Boot. 

• Build scalable microservices and APIs following cloud-native architecture principles. 

• Implement high-quality, maintainable, and secure code using modern engineering practices. 

• Participate in application modernization initiatives, including migration and refactoring efforts. 

AI-Native Engineering 

• Utilize GitHub Copilot, AI coding assistants, and agentic development tools to improve productivity and software quality. 

• Work effectively with AI-generated code, reviewing, validating, and refining outputs to ensure production readiness. 

• Leverage AI-assisted testing, debugging, documentation, and code review capabilities. 

• Contribute to the development of reusable prompts, engineering standards, and AI-enabled delivery practices. 

Architecture & Integration 

• Design and implement RESTful APIs, event-driven integrations, and distributed system components. 

• Work with messaging and streaming platforms such as Kafka or equivalent technologies. 

• Apply design patterns and architectural best practices to create resilient and scalable solutions. 

• Collaborate with architects and technical leads to deliver solution designs aligned with business requirements. 

Quality Engineering 

• Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests. 

• Perform code reviews, focusing on quality, security, performance, and maintainability. 

• Implement observability, monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting capabilities. 

• Ensure applications meet security, compliance, and operational requirements. 

Cloud & DevOps 

• Build and deploy applications using CI/CD pipelines. 

• Work within Azure or other public cloud environments. 

• Utilize containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. 

To qualify for the role, you should have 

Education & Work Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology/Systems or other related field 

• Between 3 to 6 years related work experience  

• Experience implementation software following agile methodologies  

Technical Skills 

• Service Oriented environments and Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring, Spring MVC,) 

• Implementing cloud-native microservices 

• Source code management, continuous integration and automated deployment  

• Knowledge of securing applications, including authentication, authorization, and encryption. 

• Very good knowledge of SQL and DBMS 

• Knowledge of clean code and unit testing 

• Strong communication skills  

• Excellent English language verbal and written communication 

AI Engineering Skills 

• Hands-on experience using AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot or equivalent platforms. 

• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code and identify functional, architectural, security, and performance issues. 

• Understanding of prompt engineering and AI-native development workflows. 

• Experience incorporating agentic AI into engineering practices and team delivery processes. 

Ideally you should also have 

• Certificates proving certain skills such as Java, Spring Boot, SQL or related skills 

• Certificates related to agentic software delivery. 

• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes 

• Experience working with AWS or Azure cloud platforms 

• Experience with events-driven architectures using Kafka or similar technologies 

• Experience using Spring Cloud Config Server or other similar platforms
