The opportunity
The opportunity at hand involves leveraging the strengths of our existing collections team to bolster firm-level collection activities. This role is responsible for managing client collection efforts throughout the UK, encompassing all service lines within our organization. It plays a critical role in the financial health of the business, with a primary focus on securing prompt payments and quickly addressing any anticipated delays. This position offers a prime chance to further improve the collections’ function and to offer specialized client support, reinforcing the team’s status as a dependable business advisor. It's a role that calls for proactive problem-solving and presents rewarding challenges, all while collaborating closely with other finance teams.
Your key responsibilities
- Collecting accounts receivable balances for EY Member Firms, by taking ownership of collection activity & client payment performance
- Monitor aging reports to identify overdue accounts and prioritize collection efforts
- Maintain positive relationships with member firms while effectively managing debt recovery.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline inter-firm billing and collection workflows
- Work to resolve disputes amicably and maintain goodwill within the network of firms
- Maintaining client information data to support lessons learned
- Dealing with incoming internal & external customer queries
- Achieve set monthly call and cash targets
- Minimise bad debts
- Keeping a detailed record of collection activities
- Provide cross-functional support to other teams as/if required by supporting on:
- Utilising the expenses data analytics tool to conduct in-depth analyses, identify trends, and uncover insights
- Collaborate with the General Ledger (GL) team to ensure accurate tracking and management of benefits-related financial data, supporting the reconciliation and reporting of benefits transactions flowing through GL accounts.
Skills and attributes for success
- At least 2 years previous experience in Credit Control
- Confident, with a proven ability to challenge appropriately at all levels
- Ability to balance multiple priorities by considering risk, importance and level of urgency
