EDGE stands for Exceptional Delivery and Growth Engine because this team operates in a technical environment with deep process and service delivery experience that distinguishes EY in the marketplace.

 

Tax Technology and Transformation offers services to companies in response to the impact of existing and emerging technology, including the growing data burden that many businesses face, driving efficiencies to create a cost-effective tax function and the need to understand how to make data an asset to establish a frictionless customer experience. The underlying objective of the combined offerings is to help businesses navigate the digital age of tax transparency alongside new trends in customer tax compliance and tax audit methods, as well as helping to solve the most pressing challenges that businesses face. Tax Technology and Transformation is composed of the following services

  • Digital tax transformation
  • Tax applications-as-a-service
  • Tax data and improvement
  • Tax analytics and reporting enhancement
  • Emerging tax technology, including robotic process automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, cloud solutions, data lake development and business intelligence innovation

Today's dynamic corporate environment is changing the way customer tax functions operate within the larger organization. Their transactional systems may include enterprise-wide applications (ERP systems), homegrown systems, and/or web-based storefronts. The customer tax may consist of internal functionality within an ERP system, a third-party vendor solution, a custom solution, or a combination of several solutions. 

The opportunity

Our EY EDGE practice gives you the opportunity to focus on U.S. and global tax information reporting and withholding matters. You will work in a group environment on designing and implementing an integrated support EY’s managed service and SAAS offerings to address our clients’ tax information reporting and withholding challenges across all financial services sectors. We offer the specialization in assisting EY teams with operational tax and customer reporting processes. Specifically, our experienced practitioners work across tax and operations to deliver support throughout the customer tax operations lifecycle. The Customer Tax Operations and Reporting (CTOR) team works on challenging information reporting and withholding engagements in the financial services, banking, insurance, and multinational sectors.

 

Your key responsibilities

Serve as Product Lead of the Customer Tax Technology team. Responsible for leading the team of transformation and technology professionals that will focus on the design and implementation of the strategic CTORS solutions and services.  Manage the team by directing and coordinating day-to-day interactions with developers and EY operations teams (as needed), reviewing key performance indicators by solution, driving delivery to meet deadlines and expectations, developing internal team members, and managing economics.

Responsibilities include

  • Understanding and high-level working knowledge of requirements of Information Reporting and Withholding (IRW)
  • Direct the technology team and provide visibility to leadership on status, issues, or situations which need to be addressed 
  • Manage and monitor team's work, progress reporting, workload, quality and utilization/overtime distribution across the team
  • Responsible for all escalation and resolution and provide visibility to leadership
  • Evidencing performance and introducing efficiencies via the appropriate KRI's and KPI's for Management
  • Design and implement automated IRW solutions 
  • Supporting the ongoing enhancements and maintenance of solutions focused on customer tax
  • Supporting the implementation of global digital tax reporting solutions

 

Skills and attributes for success

Provide leadership (advising and providing direction) to others in financial areas of specialization while leading the coordination of daily work activities and review the most complex work of other teammates.  This position requires a keen focus on the performance of multiple tax operations workstreams and coordination with both domestic and international delivery team leads. Employee may also regularly lead multiple engagements/workstreams. Employee works independently, with leadership guidance in only the most complex situations. Employee has the authority to make significant choices and decisions, without specific guidance or direction from leadership

 To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Undergraduate emphasis in accounting and approximately 10 years of related work experience in customer tax process improvement experience or equivalent experience in business or industry; or a master's degree and approximately 6 years of related work experience preferred
  • Approved technical certification, CPA license or membership to state Bar or progress to attaining those mentioned
  • Excellent managerial, leadership, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Relevant experience in one or more of the following specialty areas:
    • indirect tax software products such as Vertex, ONESOURCE (fka, Sabrix), Avalara
    • ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, etc., procurement systems such as Ariba, Coupa, etc.
  • Change management, technology and process improvement experience

 

 Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience in designing and implementing scalable IRW solutions to serve a large institution or as a vendor that supports multiple solutions

Deep knowledge of the software development lifecycle

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $132,000 to $301,500.  The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $158,400 to $342,600.  Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
