The opportunity 

Our PAS Tax - Mobility practice provides services to design and maintain the various aspects involved in managing a global workforce. We advise the part of business strategy and operations related to global workers and we provide strategic tax planning recommendations to clients. You’ll have the opportunity to work with global clients to address their most complex people challenges and ultimately improve and drive sustainable business results. 


Your key responsibilities
 
With the PAS Tax – mobility performance improvement team, you’ll join a talented group of professionals that provide individual and company-level tax planning, compliance services and advice on tax implications related to the mobility of employees and global workforces.  Our key capabilities include Mobility Transformation, Mobility Operating Model Development Employment Model Tax Structuring, Mobility Tax Compliance, Income Tax Advisory & calculations, Cross-Border Share based incentive schemes & expatriate compensation and Global and Local Employment Tax Compliance & Advisory.  

You will be engaged in complex compliance and advisory work, working with colleagues all over the globe, writing correspondence and providing authoritative advice/guidance. You will also work on small and large scope client projects, supporting them in developing their mobility operating model or global employment structure, undertaking multi-jurisdictional tax due diligence, collaborating with their cross-functional stakeholders and managing large scale projects. Directly engaging our clients is vital, be ready to question and negotiate to provide results.  

 

Key attributes for success  

  • Successful delivery of mobility performance improvement projects: technical excellence and practical/business driven approach to solving complex client challenges 
  • Collaborate with international EY colleagues and across time zones to undertake multi-jurisdictional and multi-dimensional tax diligence associated with client planning projects
  • Develop and deliver client presentations and reports that incorporate tax technical subject matter and multi-functional business consult
  • Conduct tax technical research, write US tax technical memorandums and formulate formal tax opinions
  • Generate revenue through identifying follow-on engagement opportunities and developing lasting relationships with clients; identify potential risks and opportunities to improve processes and acquire new business; contribute to business development and client pursuit activities 
  • Lead workstreams from planning to implementation – managing resources and budgets effectively 
  • Develop understanding of expatriate tax issues, trends and tools, and maintaining your reputation as an authoritative professional 
  • Managing, coaching, and developing junior resources and peers, focusing on their technical and client service skills to develop their career 


To qualify for the role you must have
 

  • A bachelor’s degree in related field; MST, MAcc or JD/LLM preferred 
  • Experience in global workforce matters: Big 4, global management consultancy firm, niche consultancy or in-house role with exposure to large-scale projects 
  • CPA license, Enrolled Agent or membership to state Bar or progress to attaining those mentioned.
  • An understanding of tax laws 
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability to confidently influence colleagues and clients 
  • Analytical approach to tax; ability to convert complex data into meaningful strategic insights 

 

Ideally, you’ll also have 

  • Exposure to US and international clients

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $99,600 to $164,300.  The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $119,600 to $186,700.  Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
  • Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
