EY's FSO tax practice provides comprehensive and specialized tax assistance tailored to the unique needs of the asset management industry. You would join our tax professionals who are knowledgeable and experienced with varied and specialized facets of hedge fund, private equity fund and mutual fund taxation, including fund and organizational structuring, tax minimization planning, on-call advice, and tax compliance.
As a Senior in Tax Compliance, you will manage and implement tax compliance strategies, providing essential support for tax provision, direct and indirect tax returns preparation, and tax reform calculations. You’ll leverage standardized processes and leading technology to streamline and optimize compliance and reporting, aligning with business strategy and regulatory requirements. You’ll also encourage the development of governance, risk, and compliance frameworks to support business alignment.

- Implementing and optimizing tax compliance and reporting processes to meet business strategy and increase efficiency.
- Supporting the development of governance and compliance frameworks.
- Providing tax compliance and reporting support, including tax provision and reform calculations.
Your key responsibilities
As a senior in our Wealth & Asset Management practice, you will be responsible for tax compliance and advisory work for clients. You would work with Managers through Partners on key client issues in domestic federal, international and state and local taxation with a focus on implementing tax strategies that align with the client's business objectives. You will be involved in tax compliance accounts for hedge funds, mutual funds and/or private equity funds.
In this role, you’ll contribute to the delivery of tax compliance solutions and projects, applying sound judgment and selecting appropriate methodologies to inform recommendations. You’ll be accountable for meeting your own targets, which impact your immediate team, and may help coordinate the work of junior colleagues. You’ll define and execute deliverables, track project status, and regularly interact with external clients in working sessions.
You’ll face challenges such as analyzing complex issues, implementing procedures and guidelines, and resolving variable factors in tax compliance. This role offers the opportunity to learn advanced tax technology, process transformation, and global compliance requirements.

- Solid technical knowledge in the asset management tax area
- Ability to analyze trading reports for tax character and book tax differences, such as wash sales, constructive sales, straddles, and other securities issues.

To qualify for the role, you must have
- Bachelor’s degree required (4-year degree)
- Typically, no less than 2 - 4 years relevant experience or equivalent experience in the financial services industry
- CPA license or a licensed Attorney is required or the ability to achieve one of these certifications
- Familiarity with the financial services industry gained through direct involvement with managed investment vehicles
- Broad exposure to federal income taxation and exposure to state and local tax
- Demonstrated expertise in tax compliance and reporting requirements.
- Awareness of finance compliance and regulation.
- Understanding of global compliance requirements.
- Ability to assess tax legislation and its impact.
- Experience with tax reform calculations.
- Familiarity with outsourcing/co-sourcing models.

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $91,100 to $150,200. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $109,400 to $170,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
- Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
