Financial Services - Data Center Transformation - Technology Consulting - Senior - NYC
Job description
At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.
We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go. Join EY and help to build a better working world.
EY is the only professional services firm with a separate business unit (“FSO”) that is dedicated to the financial services marketplace. Our FSO teams have been at the forefront of every event that has reshaped and redefined the financial services industry. If you have a passion for rallying together to solve the most complex challenges in the financial services industry, come join our dynamic FSO team!
The business problems our clients are facing today are not the same problems they have faced in the past. The rapid pace of development in Artificial Intelligence and the technology that enables it has created an urgent need to innovate and adapt to the new global business paradigm. Financial institutions are looking to build smarter and more efficient ways to operate their business, create new revenue streams, and better manage risk, through new opportunities uncovered by their data. We believe that to fully unlock the potential of Artificial Intelligence, we need to look not only at its application, but also at the strategy level for how best to transform the enterprise into one that is technology and data focused and ready for the new age. Our clients’ problems are becoming increasingly complex while at the same time the need to automate and streamline is rising.
The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Consultant who can support the analysis and day-to-day delivery required to move a financial institution from data center strategy (including co-lo) and Cloud into executable decisions and plans. This is not a general project coordinator role. The candidate should have hands-on exposure to at least one substantive part of the data center lifecycle and enough range to work across critical facilities, IT infrastructure, migration, resiliency and third-party providers.
The work is focused primarily on banking, capital markets, insurance and payments clients. Selected assignments may include other highly regulated or mission-critical organizations where resilience, control, and disciplined execution are central to the client's agenda.
Your key responsibilities
-
Perform current-state assessments of data center and Cloud hosted environments using client data, interviews, site information and technical documents; convert findings into capacity, risk, dependency and decision views.
-
Support colocation and provider evaluations by developing requirements, scoring criteria, RFP content, evaluation workbooks, site-visit materials and executive comparisons.
-
Analyze readiness across space, power, cooling, connectivity, compute, storage, network, backup and operational support.
-
Support build and migration planning through integrated schedules, RAID management, dependency analysis, readiness checkpoints, test evidence, runbooks and go/no-go materials.
-
Develop application and infrastructure inventories, validate data quality, trace dependencies, and identify gaps that could affect migration sequencing or service continuity.
-
Prepare client-ready Excel models, PowerPoint decision materials, process and architecture diagrams, status reports, and executive summaries.
-
Facilitate working sessions across facilities, infrastructure, applications, network, cyber, resiliency, sourcing, finance, risk and providers.
-
Own assigned work products and escalate issues with a fact base and recommended path forward.
Required experience and qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, construction management, architecture, business or related discipline.
-
At least 3 years of relevant experience in data centers or Cloud , IT infrastructure, critical facilities, hybrid infrastructure, infrastructure transformation, resiliency or capital-program delivery.
-
Experience producing real delivery artifacts such as requirements, inventories, dependency maps, schedules, RAID logs, evaluation workbooks, readiness evidence, runbooks or executive reporting.
-
Experience working across multiple technical and business stakeholder groups, not only within a single support or administration team.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in business and risk terms.
-
Public-cloud migration experience is relevant and is a substitute for data center infrastructure migration, consolidation and exit experience although experience with both is preferred
Required software and analytical tooling
-
Advanced Microsoft Excel, including structured analysis, lookups, pivot tables, quality checks, and management reporting.
-
Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and the ability to create concise, executive-ready storyline and decision materials.
-
Working capability in Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart or equivalent for process, dependency, architecture or facility diagrams.
-
Practical use of Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira or Azure DevOps to manage milestones, dependencies, risks and actions.
-
Experience extracting, reconciling or analyzing information from at least one infrastructure source such as a DCIM platform, ServiceNow CMDB/ITSM, BMC Helix, Device42, BMS/EPMS, VMware vCenter or cloud inventory tooling. Expertise in every platform is not required.
AI-enabled delivery
-
Practical experience using Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot or comparable enterprise generative AI tools to improve research, analysis, requirements development, data review, documentation, reporting or workflow automation is preferred.
-
Candidates should be able to explain how they validated AI-generated outputs, protected confidential information, and applied professional judgment before using the work product.
Preferred experience
-
Financial services infrastructure, operational resilience, business continuity, disaster recovery, or third-party risk.
-
Exposure to MEP and critical systems, including electrical distribution, UPS/generators, cooling, controls, and telecommunications.
-
Colocation sourcing, workload migration, data center consolidation or facility modernization.
-
Relevant credentials such as PMP, ITIL, Uptime Institute, engineering, or commissioning credentials are preferred but not required.
Skills and attributes for success
-
Ability to work through complex facility, infrastructure, and operational information and turn it into practical analysis and clear client decisions.
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify risks, dependencies and gaps that may affect delivery.
-
Clear written and verbal communication across technical, operational, and business audiences.
-
Ability to work effectively across client teams, EY workstreams and third-party providers while maintaining focus on quality and follow-through.
-
Curiosity and willingness to build capability across adjacent areas of the data center lifecycle.
-
A practical ownership mindset and interest in producing work that clients can use to make and execute decisions.
