The opportunity

Our Life Insurance Transformation practice is currently hiring for a Senior Manager Technology Consultant to advise our life insurance clients on transforming their life insurance, annuity, group benefits, and retirement operations and systems.  This includes the transformation of business processes, systems, and technology improvements. In this role, you will help our clients achieve their desired goals and business objectives and in return, you can expect to learn leading practices in technology transformation, delivery, and exposure to a wide variety of business challenges that are solved using digital and transformational technologies. There are also opportunities to collaborate with market leading technology product platforms in shaping their roadmap and helping our clients implement their platform.

 

As a Manager in Technology Transformation Program Delivery, you will have the opportunity to lead and manage the delivery of cutting-edge technology transformation projects and programs. You will play a pivotal role in aligning these initiatives with organizational strategy to achieve desired outcomes, providing assurance to leadership by managing timelines, costs, and quality. This role involves leading both technical and non-technical project teams in the development and implementation of technology solutions and/or infrastructure. You will also have the chance to coach others on project and program delivery methods, including Agile and waterfall, and propose solutions to technical constraints.

 

Your key responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of one or more processes, solutions, and/or projects, ensuring a focus on quality and effective risk management. You will engage in continuous process improvement and identify innovative solutions through research, analysis, and best practices. Additionally, you will manage professional employees or supervise others to deliver complex technical initiatives, with accountability for performance and results. This role offers the opportunity to apply your depth of expertise to guide others and interpret internal/external issues to recommend quality solutions. You will meet performance objectives and metrics set locally, including client service, quality and risk management, sales and business growth, solution development, and teaming. Travel may be required regularly as needed by external clients.

 

You will also engage in:

  • Managing large, multi-phase projects, communicate with and manage client expectations, build the project team, and manage scope, risk, budget, and timeline activities
  • Providing high-level technology assessments, planning, recommendations, and project management with a focus on developing and achieving client goals and objectives
  • Identifying key client risks and opportunities, determine client needs utilizing standard assessment techniques and tools, use innovative approaches to evaluate and validate needs, analyze and develop recommendations for the client in the context of the engagement
  • Implementing and overseeing the quality of deliverables and effectively manage the team and day-to-day relationships to ensure exceptional performance
  • Participating in business development and presentation of proposal activities
  • Providing project status reporting, metrics, billing, and client progress reports
  • Ensuring engagements are clearly documented

 

Skills and attributes for success

To excel as a Manager in Technology Transformation Program Delivery, it's crucial to possess a blend of both technical acumen and business savvy. This role demands a deep understanding of technology and its application in driving business outcomes, as well as the ability to navigate and influence within complex organizational landscapes. Some key skills and attributes that will set you up for success include:

  • Leading workstream delivery and track deliverable completion and project status.
  • Managing engagement economics and implement resource plans and budgets.
  • Actively participating in client working sessions and lead workstreams in planning, execution, and closure.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and lead specific RFP responses.
  • Ability to travel to client site as necessary.

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A Bachelor's degree (4-year degree), with a master's degree preferred in computer science, Management information systems, or related disciplines.
  • 7+ years of consulting experiencing working on a technology strategy, transformation, or solution delivery project with diverse teams and roles 
  • Typically, no less than 4-6 years of relevant experience within the Insurance industry (preferably life & annuities, group benefits, individual life, or retirement services).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including executive presentation skills
  • Experience assessing and improving business processes, systems, and associated technologies
  • Understanding of Insurance and Annuities products and life cycle processes
  • Experience with one or more of the following policy administration systems: FINEOS AdminSuite, ALIP, GIAS, DXC wmA/CyberLife, LifePRO, FAST, Infosys McCamish, InsPro, Majesco, OIPA, Alis, V3, Wyde, Andesa
  • Experience with one or more of the following new business, claims, and underwriting systems: Limelight Health, FINEOS AdminSuite, iPipeline, nbaccelerator, Concentrix, Insurance Technologies, Vitech, ClaimVantage, Vue
  • Experience supporting business development activities (e.g. pursuits, proposals, presentations)

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Program/Project/Workstream management experience in an on-shore/off-shore model working with clients and third-party vendors
  • Experience leading Agile projects, on-premise/hosted technology transformation programs, legacy migration, and Life Insurance IT vendor package implementation projects
  • Some experience or exposure to one or more of the following: application servers, database, development tools, middleware and integration technologies.
  • Experience in roles such as IT or Business Architect, Business Analyst, Developer (preferably .NET, Java / J2EE or Java based languages)
  • Experience with policy admin system configuration to support the design and build of business processes related to new business, underwriting, servicing and claims.
  • The capability to solve complex problems and implement policy changes and procedures affecting the business
  • Proven experience in leading teams, providing feedback, and managing complex technical initiatives with accountability for results
  • A track record of active participation in client sessions, leading project delivery, managing engagement economics, and identifying new service opportunities

What we offer
 
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $141,200 to $258,900. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $169,500 to $294,300. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
