Director of Contract Operations
The Director of Contract Operations for the Ernst & Young General Counsel’s Office (GCO) Corporate Group is a non-legal position focused on optimizing the systems and operations of the GCO Corporate Group and its work with its internal client base.
The Opportunity
The GCO Corporate Group is comprised of approximately 50 professionals who negotiate a high volume of client and vendor contracts, amongst many other responsibilities. We have implemented a contract lifecycle management platform (DocuSign CLM) for several use cases including intake, assignment, and execution of client contracts. We are in the process of expanding the use cases and are looking for a leader to apply a strategic mindset to driving the process as well as handle the key responsibilities listed below.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Work with GCO Corporate team leadership to implement technologies (including DocuSign CLM and others as appropriate) that support GCO’s strategic plan.
- Evaluate and help implement strategic initiatives, including use of AI and other advanced methodologies for supporting the GCO Corporate Group’s activities.
- Develop and maintain forms, policies, and FAQs for legal operations and processes.
- Collaborate with business and other cross-functional teams to identify pain points and develop mitigation plans to address risk or deficient workflows.
- Identify, create, and improve processes for GCO workflow requests, focusing on efficiency, scale, and operational excellence.
- Develop, drive, track, and report progress on appropriate KPIs to inform decision making and support senior leadership.
- Supervise shared paralegals in the portion of their work devoted to operational and strategic initiatives.
- Design, rollout, and train team members on new tools, systems, and processes.
- Assist with project management, both within the team and cross-functionally
- Support GCO leadership with day-to-day department operations, including reporting, dashboarding and technology budgeting.
- Prepare reports and presentations for executive meetings.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Thorough expertise in contract lifecycle management tools and legal technology (including AI), complemented by a strong grasp of industry standards and best practices.
- Proven experience in training on CLM technologies, along with a solid understanding of their adoption and effective usage.
- 5+ years of experience with a law firm, in-house counsel, or in a legal consulting practice
- Expert level knowledge of DocuSign Contract Lifecycle Management.
- Previous responsibility owning and managing a technology budget with experience tracking, managing, and negotiating.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results, solution oriented, and an ability to lead teams through managing complex and high-risk situations.
- Strong problem solving, conflict resolution, and analytical skills with ability to make sound observations and recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written, using a consultative approach, and demonstrating an ability to clearly communicate expectations.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- Ability to work independently with little direction or oversight.
