The Opportunity


As a Transaction Analytics Director, you will lead teams in delivering critical data-driven business, financial, and commercial insights to support clients in their M&A, divestitures, carve-outs, and other transformational events. Further, you will leverage your business acumen and analytics skills to lead value creation initiatives within private equity portfolio companies and corporations alike. In both M&A and value creation projects, you'll work closely with corporate and private equity leaders, strategists, and decision-makers, offering data-driven insights that help shape strategic decisions.

 

This role provides the opportunity to combine technical skills with business acumen, working with advanced tools/technologies such as Alteryx, Snowflake, Databricks and PowerBI along with Excel, SQL and Python. You will leverage AI technologies to both drive efficiencies and thoughtful problem solving in your daily work. You will also mentor junior team members and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead data analytics projects to advise clients on financial and commercial issues, M&A transactions, and value creation opportunities for corporate clients and private equity portfolio companies.
  • Guide teams in executing descriptive and predictive analytics, transforming data into actionable insights.
  • Contribute to practice development and business growth through client meetings, presentations, and new business pursuits.
  • Support the career development of junior staff through mentorship.
  • Drive innovation by applying advanced analytical techniques and staying updated on sector trends.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic insights and solutions.

To Qualify

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience (or a graduate degree with 4+ years of experience).
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data wrangling, transformation, and analysis (both descriptive and predictive).
  • Proficiency in relational databases and data models.
  • Experience in diverse industries (e.g., TMT, Healthcare, Retail) and functional areas (e.g., corporate finance, supply chain).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data to varied audiences.
  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.

 

Ideally, You’ll Also Have

 

  • Master’s degree, and/or CPA or CFA license
  • M&A experience and financial statement analysis.
  • Experience with advanced analytical methods (e.g., statistical pricing studies, customer lifetime value, customer retention).
  • Experience with analytics and data tools (e.g., Alteryx, Snowflake, Databricks, Power BI, Python, SQL).
  • Knowledge of how to leverage AI tools in a business setting, including Microsoft Copilot.
  • Experience with leveraging AI, namely LLMs, including prompt engineering, AI agents, etc.
  • Interest in working with alternative data to analyze competitive positioning.

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $120,400 to $220,700.  The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $144,500 to $250,900.  Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
  • Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
