Our actuarial advisers deliver creative and innovative thinking to clients worldwide, supporting them in making confident financial judgements in support of their business goals. Here, you’ll be right at the heart of that mission, leading engagement teams, working directly with clients, mentoring and developing team members and building your personal brand as a leader in your field.
Your key responsibilities
It’s all about providing the knowledge our clients need to execute strategies and resolve complex issues. We’ll look to you to participate in and lead client engagement teams in areas related to life insurance, annuities, and long-term care, in a wide variety of areas including:
- Financial Reporting
- Actuarial Transformation®
- Financial Modeling
- Reinsurance
- Risk Management
- Product Development
- Mergers and Acquisitions
Skills and attributes for success
- Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Demonstrate ability to quickly assimilate to new knowledge. Possess good business acumen. Remain current on new developments in advisory services capabilities and industry knowledge.
- Understand/communicate complex actuarial issues. Stay informed of and apply professional standards and firm policies (e.g., Actuarial Standards of Practice).
- Cultivate and manage business development opportunities. Understand EY and its service lines and actively assess/ present ways to serve clients. Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Develop relationships with team members across all EY practices to serve client needs.
- Foster relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels. Consistently deliver quality client services. Drive high-quality work products within expected timeframes and on budget. Monitor progress, manage risk and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes. Manage expectations of client service delivery. Stay abreast of current business, regulatory and industry trends relevant to the client's business.
- Foster an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment. Play an active role in counselling and mentoring junior consultants within the organization. Provide constructive on the-job feedback/coaching to team members.
- Develop a strong personal brand and enhance the EY brand by writing articles, participating in industry groups and speaking at seminars
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Bachelor’s degree
- Approximately 3+ years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years of people and/or project management
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries
- Proficiency with coding or actuarial modeling systems, including Python, R, Generative AI, Prophet, AXIS
- Strong analytical and project management skills, along with a creative approach to overcoming challenges
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to understand and persuade on complex subjects both in writing and verbally
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% to meet client needs
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Experience with Principles-Based Reserving (PBR)
- Experience with RILA or other indexed products
