We help our clients in identifying and managing the interplay between upside and downside risk in order to make the long-term decisions to prevent risk and impact on their organization's ability to meet its future business strategy and objectives. The 3 key fields of play are :

Enterprise Risk - helps clients identify and address key risk areas, while building the agility to respond quickly. The areas of focus include Enterprise risk and resilience, Internal audit, Compliance and Internal controls

Technology Risk - helps clients to achieve sustainable growth by supporting their efforts to protect their business performance and by providing trusted communications on internal control and regulatory compliance to investors, management, regulators, customers and other stakeholders. EY teams accomplish this by assessing the technology risks that are introduced to businesses.

Financial Services Risk - helps clients in the financial sector to identify, manage and monitor the risks in their business. It is done through a transformative and agile approach including process and procedures, risk, data modeling and analytics, reporting to stakeholders and third parties, business requirements (for software selection and IT implementation), analysis of assets and liabilities, and capital and liquidity management.

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced data management professional to join our team with a strong background in the banking and financial services sector. This role will involve leading efforts to establish and manage data governance policies, data lineage tracking, and data quality management, specifically focusing on risk data across the organization. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of regulatory requirements and risk management processes, along with expertise to support strategic decision-making, operational efficiency, and compliance requirements.

  1. Data Governance Framework Development & Management:
    • Develop and maintain a robust data governance framework tailored to risk data management, ensuring alignment with organizational risk management strategies and regulatory requirements.
    • Establish and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure risk data integrity, security, and compliance with financial regulations (e.g., Basel III, Dodd-Frank, MiFID II, GDPR).
    • Ensure the adoption and consistent application of data governance processes across business units and data domains.
    • Work with risk management teams and CDO to ensure the effective management of data throughout its lifecycle.
  2. Data Quality Management:
    • Develop and implement data quality standards, metrics, and KPIs specifically for risk data, monitoring for accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and consistency.
    • Perform regular data quality assessments, identify gaps, and drive initiatives to improve data quality across various systems.
    • Investigate and resolve data quality issues and recommend solutions for process improvements.
  3. Data Lineage Management:
    • Define and document end-to-end data lineage for all risk data, ensuring clarity and transparency of data flow across systems, applications, and business processes.
    • Implement data lineage tracking tools and technologies (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation) to visualize and manage data movements, transformations, and dependencies.
    • Ensure that data lineage documentation is maintained accurately, is accessible to key teams, and supports audit and regulatory compliance activities.
    • Collaborate with data architects and data engineers to enhance the accuracy and completeness of data lineage.
  1. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:
    • Ensure data governance and data quality initiatives meet regulatory and compliance requirements, including BCBS239, PRA, and other banking and financial services regulators.
    • Maintain an in-depth understanding of industry best practices, regulatory guidelines, and risk management related to data management in the financial sector.
  2. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with business units, IT, data analysts, and other key stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective data governance and quality strategies.
    • Foster a data-driven culture within the organization by educating stakeholders about the importance of data governance and quality.
  3. Data Tools & Technologies:
    • Lead the implementation of data governance and data quality management tools and platforms like Collibra, IDQ etc
    • Leverage data quality tools to monitor data health, create reports, and automate processes where possible.
    • Expertise in SQL or equivalent technologies
  4. Reporting and Metrics:
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that measure the effectiveness of data governance and quality initiatives.
    • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other key stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.

To qualify for the role you must have -

  • Qualification:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
    • Relevant certifications in Data Governance or Data Quality (e.g., CDMP, CDO, DAMA) preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 3 to 7 years of experience in data governance, data quality management, or related roles, specifically within the banking or financial services industry preferably in Risk management
    • Proven track record of developing and implementing data governance frameworks and data quality improvement programs.
    • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and their impact on data management in the financial services sector.
    • Experience with data management platforms, and tools (e.g., Informatica, Collibra, IBM Data Governance).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in data management and quality tools, databases, and data visualization software (e.g., Collibra, IDQ , Tableau, Power BI, SQL).
    • Familiarity with data modelling, data integration, and ETL processes.
    • Strong understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data cataloguing.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large and complex datasets.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with senior leadership and technical teams alike.
    • Leadership abilities to drive cross-functional initiatives and foster collaboration.
    • Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to accuracy and data integrity.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and project management.
