JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title:   Accounts Assistant (Senior Consultant)

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

 

  • Perform invoice review and approval routing, ensuring all invoices are properly coded, matched with purchase orders where applicable, and routed to the appropriate stakeholders for authorization in line with internal policies
  • Manage payment scheduling and extension processes, preparing and executing payment runs based on agreed vendor terms, cash flow optimization, and business priorities.
  • Conduct regular vendor ledger reconciliation, identifying discrepancies between vendor statements and company records, and proactively resolving any mismatches
  • Address and resolve accounts payable queries from vendors and internal stakeholders in a timely, professional, and customer-focused manner
  • Ensure proper documentation and audit trail for all AP transactions in compliance with internal controls, policy, and external audit requirements
  • Collaborate with procurement and treasury teams to ensure alignment in payment cycles, vendor onboarding, and contract compliance
  • Support month-end closing activities by ensuring all AP entries are recorded, accruals are made where necessary, and open items are investigated and cleared.
  • Assist in driving automation and process improvements within the AP function to reduce manual work and increase process accuracy
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of statutory compliance, tax requirements (e.g., GST, TDS), and reporting obligations relevant to accounts payable
  • Ensure adherence to SLAs and KPIs for invoice turnaround, payment cycles, and query resolution as per standards.

 

Functional & Behavioural Competencies required:

 

Functional Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of end-to-end accounts payable processes, including invoice handling, payments, and vendor reconciliations.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Concur, Workday, Proactis) and e-invoicing platforms.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations such as GST, TDS, and other compliance requirements.
  • Strong Excel skills for data reconciliation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and period-end close activities.
  • Ability to interpret vendor contracts and payment terms effectively.

Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Commerce, or Finance; additional certifications (e.g., CA Inter, CMA Inter) are a plus.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in Accounts Payable or Procure-to-Pay (P2P) functions within a shared service or multinational environment.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems and invoice workflow tools is required.
  • Prior experience in financial services, insurance broking, or regulated industries is preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record in managing vendor relationships and resolving payment-related issues.
  • Experience working in a global environment with cross-border stakeholders is desirable
