The Opportunity

EY Malta is seeking an experienced IFRS specialist to lead and grow our Financial accounting advisory aervices offering. This is a senior role for a technically strong accounting professional with extensive IFRS experience and the ambition to become the market's trusted advisor on complex financial reporting matters.

The successful candidate will act as an IFRS leader within EY Malta, supporting audit teams and clients on complex accounting issues, advising on significant transactions, and driving thought leadership in the Maltese market. The role offers the opportunity to build a market-leading IFRS advisory practice while working directly with CFOs, boards, audit committees, regulators, and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a main point of contact for IFRS and financial reporting advisory services.
• Provide technical advice on complex IFRS matters, accounting transactions, restructurings, acquisitions, and capital market activities.
• Support audit teams on significant accounting judgements and financial reporting matters.
• Review technical accounting papers and financial statements.
• Monitor IFRS developments and advise clients on their implications.
• Deliver IFRS training and thought leadership to clients and EY professionals.
• Develop strong market relationships and establish EY Malta as a leading provider of IFRS advisory services.
• Identify and lead business development opportunities in accounting advisory.

To Qualify for the Role

• Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• 8-10+ years of relevant experience, including substantial IFRS technical advisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
• Proven experience advising on complex accounting issues and business transactions.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working directly with senior finance leaders and boards.
• Excellent written and verbal English skills.
