The opportunity

 

We are seeking to recruit a motivated Senior Associate with strong financial experience to join our internal finance team as Portfolio Finance Advisor. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the Accounts Payable function using SAP. Training will be provided.

 

 Your key responsibilities


The Portfolio Finance Advisor’s deep financial, commercial and advisory expertise supports better business decisions by providing high value insights, portfolio centric focus, global network and leading practices across countries and service lines. Recognizing complex projects and identifying possible innovative solutions allows the Portfolio Finance Advisor to proactively drive towards greater results. 


As Portfolio Finance Advisor for the EY Malta office, and with the support of a central team of assistant advisors based in a regional location, your key responsibilities will be as follows:

 

 

  • Participate in regular regional calls and apply locally any guidance issued at regional level on project financial monitoring
  • Use strong analytical skills to determine individuals/teams in need of proactive outreach to improve financial performance. In addition, you will build strong relationships with regional service line finance teams to understand how to best approach your stakeholders
  • Leverage system and finance expertise to prepare for discussions: making judgments regarding the topics to be addressed and their prioritization - understanding when to reach out to other functional experts in order to prepare for the interaction. 
  • Provide instruction and guidance on the preparation of external client project completion estimate processes and corresponding financial impact.
  • Prepare reports for leadership on engagement performance and variances from budget.
  • Review of project profitability and unbilled inventory.
  • You may also be required to help facilitate training for account and engagement teams on relevant areas of our internal financial system, as well as guide effective financial management practices.

 

Key responsibilities related to the Accounts Payable function will be as follows:

 

  • Manage and oversee the Accounts Payable function using SAP.
  • Handling payables and liaising with suppliers as required.
  • Coordinating internal approval processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
  • Preparation of reports and reconciliations as may be required.

 

Desirable Skills and attributes 

 

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Accountancy, ACCA or any equivalent international qualification.
  • Preference for 3 years experience in a financial role.
  • Excellent listening skills to provide focused advice, combined with the ability to apply judgment and seek guidance when escalation to a functional expert is appropriate.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including responsiveness and commitment to quality.
  • Strong knowledge of financial metrics and dependencies including ability to calculate variances quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, demonstrate self-drive and also prioritize workload and deliver outputs within strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication and partnering skills with people of all levels of the firm.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Highly organized and have attention to detail.
  • Good multitasking and analytical skills.
  • Be a team player
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of SAP will be considered an asset
