The Opportunity
EY Malta supports leading organisations, including financial services clients, in delivering large-scale data transformation programmes.
As a Data Steward, you will act as the key point of accountability for data quality and definition within assigned domains. You will work closely with business users, data engineers and governance teams to ensure data is accurate, complete and aligned to agreed standards.
This is a hands-on role that plays a critical part in embedding data governance into day-to-day operations and enabling trusted data across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage data quality and ownership
• Monitoring and reporting on data quality KPIs / issues
• Defining and maintaining business rules, standards and controls
• Supporting root cause analysis for recurring data issues
• Resolve data issues with stakeholdersCollaborating with data owners, business SMEs, IT and governance teams
• Contributing to regulatory, audit or compliance-related data requirements where relevant
• Ensuring data changes are reflected in metadata / lineage / glossary artefacts
Skills and Attributes
• Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, data management or related field
• 3+ years of experience in data management, data quality or data governance roles
• Strong understanding of data quality concepts, data definitions and metadata
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks, metadata, lineage and data quality controls
• Experience working with governance and data management tools
• Ability to work closely with business stakeholders and operational teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to translate between business and technical teams
• Good communication and collaboration skills
Certifications (optional)
• DAMA CDMP
• Microsoft Purview Certification or certification in similar data governance tools
