The Opportunity

EY Malta supports leading organisations, including financial services clients, in delivering large-scale data transformation programmes.

As a Data Governance Specialist, you will contribute to the design and implementation of data governance frameworks, operating models and controls across the organisation. You will work across business and technology teams to embed governance practices, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, traceable and aligned with regulatory and business requirements.

This role offers the opportunity to work on organisation-wide transformation programmes where data governance is a critical enabler of trust and data-driven decision making.

Key Responsibilities

•    Support the design and implementation of enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and controlsDefine and operationalise governance roles, including data owners, data stewards, and related decision-making forums
•    Drive improvements in data quality, metadata management, lineage, and issue management processes
Work with business and technology stakeholders to embed governance requirements into processes, platforms, and reportingSupport regulatory and risk-related data initiatives by ensuring traceability, accountability, and control over critical data assets 


Skills and Attributes

•    Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in information systems, data management, or related field
•    3+ years of experience in data governance, data management or regulatory data environments
•    Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, operating models and policies
•    Knowledge of data ownership/ stewardship models 
•    Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Microsoft Purview, Informatica, or similar)
•    Familiarity with financial services and/or regulatory environments Understanding of data lineage, metadata and data quality frameworks
•    Ability to translate business requirements into governance controls
•    Analytical and problem-solving skills 
•    Experience working with both business and technical stakeholders
•    Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Certifications (optional)

•    DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
•    Collibra certification
•    Microsoft certifications related to Purview, Azure, or Data governance
