As a Tax Governance Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in assisting clients in Australia in navigating tax risk management and advising them on meeting the ATO's better practices outlined in various tax governance guidelines. You'll have the chance to manage client relationships and collaborate with the talented members of our broader Financial Services team.

 

This is a hybrid position based in Naarm - Melbourne. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

  • Assist clients in developing and documenting their tax corporate governance processes.
  • Test the design and operational effectiveness of their tax corporate governance framework.
  • Playing a pivotal role in responding to information requests from the ATO
  • Have the opportunity to represent clients and assist in resolving tax-related disputes and controversies with ATO
  • Draft voluntary disclosures, submissions against penalties, and help clients respond to requests for information in the context of ATO reviews and audits.
  • Draft ad hoc tax advice on various tax administration matters and prepare private binding rulings requests.

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

  • Tax technical skills.
  • Flexibility to work across tax corporate governance, advise on tax matters, manage information responses to the ATO.
  • Ability to develop strong and broad relationships with clients and provide a high level of client service.
  • Ability to work with a number of different clients and internal stakeholders on multiple deadlines.
