Job description

At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.

We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go.

Join EY and help to build a better working world.

The opportunity:

As our Manager, Solution and Enterprise Architecture, you will work with clients to shape technology direction and translate business strategy into practical architecture outcomes. You will lead the development of enterprise, solution and transition architectures that guide investment decisions, enable transformation and provide a clear path from current state to target state.

You will contribute across a range of transformation contexts, including technology strategy, architecture operating model and governance, application and platform modernisation, cloud and data-enabled transformation, digital and AI initiatives, and major program design and delivery. You will work closely with senior client stakeholders, delivery teams and technology specialists to balance strategic ambition with delivery feasibility, risk, cost, resilience and maintainability.

This role can be performed in Melbourne. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your Key Responsabilities

  • Shape architecture strategy and direction: Work with clients to define architecture vision, principles, target-state direction and pragmatic transition roadmaps aligned to business strategy and transformation outcomes.
  • Enterprise architecture and capability alignment: Assess business capabilities, processes, information, applications and technology to identify gaps, dependencies, duplication and opportunities for simplification or modernisation.
  • Solution architecture: Lead or oversee the design of end-to-end solutions across applications, integration, data, infrastructure, cloud, security and service management, ensuring designs are coherent, scalable and fit for purpose.
  • Architecture governance and assurance: Establish or operate architecture governance, design authorities, standards and decision processes, and provide objective assurance over solution integrity, risks, trade-offs and alignment to enterprise direction.
  • Roadmaps and investment decisions: Develop current-state assessments, target architectures, options analyses, technology roadmaps and investment cases that help senior stakeholders prioritise initiatives and make informed decisions.
  • Transformation and delivery partnership: Work with program, product, engineering and vendor teams to translate architecture into executable plans, manage architectural dependencies and support delivery through design, implementation and transition.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Facilitate architecture workshops and working sessions, communicate complex concepts clearly, influence senior business and technology stakeholders, and build alignment across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Team leadership and quality: Manage architecture workstreams and small teams, coach junior team members, review deliverables and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive and commercially focused team culture.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Experience delivering enterprise architecture, solution architecture, technology strategy or architecture-led transformation in complex organisations.
  • Ability to connect business strategy and capability needs to technology direction, target-state architecture and practical transition pathways.
  • Strong knowledge across multiple architecture domains, such as business, application, integration, data, cloud, infrastructure, security and service management, with depth in at least one area.
  • Experience producing and assuring architecture artefacts, including principles, reference architectures, current- and target-state views, solution designs, roadmaps, standards and architecture decisions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to facilitate workshops, explain complex technical issues in business terms and influence senior stakeholders and delivery partners.
  • Experience managing architecture workstreams or small teams, including planning, dependencies, risks, quality review and coordination across internal teams and third parties.
  • Commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to balancing strategic alignment, delivery feasibility, risk, cost, resilience, maintainability and time to value.

Ideally, you'll also have the skills and attributes below but don't worry if you don't tick all the boxes. We're interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Experience in power and utilities, infrastructure, government, transport, consumer, financial services or other asset-intensive or regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with recognised architecture methods and modelling approaches, such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, capability-based planning, architecture repositories or cloud architecture frameworks.
  • Experience with application portfolio rationalisation, cloud and platform modernisation, integration and API strategy, data and AI architecture, cybersecurity architecture or technology operating model design.
  • Relevant professional or vendor certifications, and an interest in emerging technologies and their practical application to business and transformation outcomes.
