The Opportunity  

 

We are seeking Managers based in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide to join us in our recently established Sustainability Disclosure Hub (the Hub). The Hub is a collaboration between our Climate Change and Sustainability Services (CCaSS) team and our core Audit Practice to respond to the emerging mandatory reporting requirements which will impact our clients and businesses more broadly.

 

The objective of the Hub’s delivery team is to deliver work as it relates to mandatory reporting requirements (which will mostly be assurance). 

 

We are already the leading sustainability consulting practice in Oceania (including more than 200 passionate professionals within CCaSS) and have a strong focus on the technical development of our teams and developing the next generation of sustainability and audit professionals.  

 

About the Hub 

 

The EY Sustainability Disclosure Hub offers practical guidance to assist companies across the region prepare for mandatory reporting of climate and sustainability-related reporting. Headed by Oceania market-leading financial and non-financial reporting professionals, the Sustainability Disclosure Hub brings together EY capability locally and across the globe – coupling financial and non-financial reporting strategy, readiness and assurance capabilities that have an intimate knowledge of the work of the  International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and local market insights, including the development of the climate-related disclosure requirements by the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) and New Zealand's External Reporting Board (XRB).

What’s in it for you?

 

In the role you’ll focus on non-financial assurance across the above-mentioned locations. This will include:

  • Taking responsibility for assurance processes, design of work programs, completion of work products, and client deliverables to a high standard
  • Providing relevant and accurate technical advice and insight to clients
  • Managing potential problems and opportunities in delivering services, including process improvements, changes in expectations or scope, in accordance with relevant EY standards, policies and methodologies
  • Being confident and credible when presenting complex messages to senior client stakeholders, using a variety of media and methods
  • Building trusted relationships with EY clients
  • Contributing to the go-to-market plan for the Hub, enhancing market presence across Oceania and supporting the execution of the Hub strategy
  • Fostering a collaborative and high performing team environment while applying technical expertise of non-financial audit and reporting to direct project teams on delivery of work related to the Hub

 

What we’re looking for 

 

Here’s our ‘wish list’ but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your strengths, what you want to learn, and how far you want to go. 

  • Tertiary qualification, such as in commerce or accounting, engineering or environmental sciences, economics, social sciences, law, organisational development, research methods or international development 
  • Financial or non-financial assurance experience and awareness of relevant standards including those developed by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)  and development of the climate-related disclosure requirements by the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) and New Zealand's External Reporting Board (XRB) 
  • Practical experience with energy and emissions reporting schemes including National Greenhouse Emissions Reporting (NGER) scheme, the Safeguard Mechanism and the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF); as well as climate risk advisory experience such as experience with the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) Framework
  • Knowledge and experience in climate and energy policy and standards, climate risk and opportunity assessment and decarbonisation strategy is a bonus 
  • Outstanding project and time management skills
  • You will have 9 + years’ experience of relevant professional experience and 2+ years leadership or management experience
